CANTON, N.Y. – Oona Havana scored her first goal of the season 3:03 into the overtime period, securing Vermont (1-2-1) the 2-1 overtime win over No. 12 St. Lawrence (1-4-1) on Saturday evening from Appleton Arena. With the win, the Catamounts notched their first win of the season and first from Appleton Arena in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first two periods, the Catamounts broke the ice 2:13 into the third period on the powerplay, seeing Kaylee Lewis tip in a shot from Natalie Zarcone shooting from the blue line, slipping the puck under Emma-Sofie Nordström right pad, earning UVM the 1-0 lead and securing her second goal of the season.
- While having an extra attacker out, with 48 seconds of regulation remaining, Kiley Mastel scored the equalizing goal for St. Lawrence, knotting the game at 1-1, ultimately sending the contest to overtime for the second straight night.
- During the three-on-three overtime, with 1:57 remaining, Rose-Marie Brochu made a phenomenal defensive play in UVM's zone leading to a two-on-one rush with Havana. Havana carried the puck into the Saint's zone, electing to shoot low glove side, scoring her first goal of the season, securing the Catamounts their first win of the regular season, and first win at Appleton Arena.

- With tonight's 2-1 decision, Community Bank N.A. will donate $100 to Special Olympics Vermont. Community Bank, N.A. donates $50 per goal to Special Olympics Vermont for every goal the men's and women's team scores this season.
UP NEXT
Following the win over No. 12 St. Lawrence, the Catamounts get one week to prepare for the 2025 Ice Breaker Tournament hosted by Union in Schenectady, N.Y. The three other teams participating in the tournament include the defending National Champion No. 1 Wisconsin, Union, and Saint Anselm. Vermont opens tournament play facing the Badgers on Friday, October 17 at 12:07 p.m. Then on Saturday October 18, UVM will go head-to-head with either host school Union, or Saint Anselm in either the Championship game at 3:37 p.m., or the Consolation game at 12:07 p.m. depending on the outcomes of Friday's contests. All the action will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
