COACH'S QUOTE
"Hard fought battle today with a scrappy Saint Anselm team, and it was satisfying to get a win, but we did not play our best game," said Head Coach
Jim Plumer. "We know we are capable of playing so much better."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts pounced on the scoreboard first a little over halfway through the opening frame, seeing Retrum snipe a snapshot to the top right corner, securing her second goal of the season, propelling Vermont to a 1-0 advantage. Josie Hemp and Kaylee Lewis earned assists on the goal.
- Vermont doubled its lead just 2:15 into the second period when Sophia DeAnzeris connected with Darci Matson on a breakout pass, who then fed Mesplède backdoor, executing a two-on-one rush to perfection. Mesplède one-timed the puck to the back of the net, securing her first goal of the season and earning the Catamounts a 2-0 lead.
- Kismet Dogan cut the Saint Anselm deficit in half 12:14 into the second frame, capitalizing on a breakaway to score her first goal of the season, bringing the Hawks to within one, 2-1.
- 14:48 into the final period, Vermont struck again, this time seeing Rose-Marie Brochu win a clean faceoff, quickly dishing the puck to Havana who buried her second goal of the season into a wide-open net, securing the Catamounts an insurance goal, gaining a 3-1 lead.
- Vermont held possession of the puck for most of the final minutes, skating away with the 3-1 victory over Saint Anselm during the Consolation Game of the 2025 Ice Breaker Tournament.
