SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Alicia Battistelli became Vermont's leading scorer on the season, netting two goals. The Catamounts (9-7, 3-1 AE) defeated Bryant (3-12, 0-4 AE) in their final road game of the regular season, on Friday afternoon at Steven '69 and Lily Cowen Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Battistelli opened the scoring for the Catamounts just 36 seconds into the game, taking a pass from sophomore Addie DelOrefice and firing a hard backhand shot into the back of the net to give Vermont a early lead.

In the 27th minute, Battistelli converted on a penalty stroke that went into the right corner of the goal, doubling Vermont's lead.

In the 36th minute First-year Veerle Nijhuis corralled a loose ball in the scoring circle and sent a backhand shot past Bryant sophomore goalkeeper Maud van Lierop to extend Vermont's lead.

Junior Maddy Weaver pitched in on the scoring in the 58th minute, following up her own insert on a short corner. She moved to the side of the cage and redirected senior Sophia Lefranc's blocked shot into the back of the net.
