BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont (6-4, 1-0 AE) returned to the win column Friday afternoon with a thrilling 4–3 victory over conference opponent New Hampshire (4-5, 0-1 AE) at Moulton Winder Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

New Hampshire opened the scoring early, just over a minute into the game. Senior Tasmin Cookman netted a two-on-one style goal off an assist from senior Nicole Poulakis.

The Catamounts answered in the ninth minute, when senior Maddie Priestly scored her third goal of the season with a backhand shot from the top of the striking circle.

Cookman tallied her second goal of the game for the Wildcats in the 24th minute, again assisted by Poulakis. She fired a low shot from close range that found the back of the cage.

The Wildcats extended their lead to two in the 31st minute, when junior midfielder Addison McNeil sent a shot on goal that deflected off a Vermont defender and into the top of the net.

Senior Sophia Lefranc cut into the deficit in the 39th minute, scoring off a penalty corner inserted by First-year Fiona McMahon and set up by senior Mora Fernandez de Oliveira.

Lefranc struck again in the 49th minute to tie the game at three, once again converting on a penalty corner inserted by McMahon and set up by Fernandez de Oliveira.

Lefranc completed the hat trick and sealed the win in the 58th minute, ripping a shot from the top of the circle off the far post and into the back of the cage off a assist from junior Consu de Castro.

With today's Win, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to the Lund Family Center through the Cat's Win, Community Win's initiative. Vermont Mutual has donated over $5 Million Dollars since launching their Charitable Giving Fund in 2014.
