BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont's (4-7-2, 1-3-1 HEA) Morgann Skoda registered a career high three points on two goals and one assist, but it wasn't enough to propel the Catamounts over New Hampshire (7-5-1, 4-2-0 HEA) on Friday night from Gutterson Fieldhouse, seeing the Wildcats claim a 4-3 road victory.

COACH'S QUOTE
"Tough outcome tonight as at times we had some unfortunate moments that led to some excellent UNH finishes," said Head Coach Jim Plumer. "I am very happy with our powerplay and the way we played in the third period. There are some things to build on from that game and I know we will be ready for tomorrow."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • New Hampshire struck first on the powerplay 13:42 into the first period, seeing Danika Botterill find her fifth goal of the season, giving the Wildcats an opening 1-0 lead.
  • The Catamounts bounced back with a powerplay goal of their own 17:09 into the first frame. Lauren O'Hara won the faceoff over to Kaylee Lewis, quickly rifling a pass cross ice to a wide-open Josie Hemp who fired a shot on net. Hemp's initial shot was saved, but Morgann Skoda was there to slap the puck out of midair into the New Hampshire net, securing her third goal of the season, knotting the game at 1-1.
  • Vermont's lead was short lived as New Hampshire scored 48 seconds later when Addison Spitz ripped a shot towards net, seeing the puck deflect off a Catamount defender right into the UVM goal, earning Spitz her fourth goal of the season, gaining the 2-1 advantage.
  • The Wildcats made it 3-1 just over four minutes into the second period, seeing Kate Sullivan capitalize on a breakaway for her second goal of the season.
  • Julia Cabral added to the New Hampshire lead 11:26 into the second frame, scoring her first goal of the season, giving UNH the 4-1 advantage.
  • Vermont pounced once again on the powerplay 11:47 into the third period, seeing Lewis rip a snapshot from the point, but the puck got deflected, landing right in front of Oona Havana who buried a shot into an open net, scoring her fifth goal of the season to cut the deficit to two, 4-2.
  • With the goalie pulled and an extra attacker on the ice, Vermont elevated the offensive pressure, scoring a goal with 2:14 remaining in regulation thanks to Skoda tipping in a shot from Havana, scoring her second goal of the game bringing UVM to within one, 4-3. Ashley Kokavec was awarded a secondary assist on Vermont's third goal.
  • UVM battled hard for the final two minutes trying to find the equalizing goal, but the damaged was already done as the final buzzer rang, seeing the Wildcats skate away with the 4-3 victory from Gutterson Fieldhouse.
