COACH'S QUOTE
"I thought we were process driven tonight," said Head Coach
Steve Wiedler. "I thought our guys weren't riding an emotional roller coaster and never gave up. It didn't go our way. That's life sometimes. But that's how we have to play every night. We have it inside of us to go toe to toe with anyone in the nation. I'm not trying to blow smoke, a loss is a loss, but there's something to be said for how we played that game and our guys need to know that."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers opened the scoring with 5:16 to play in the first period. Cole Hutson fired a shot that was high and wide of net, but BU was first to capitalize off the loose puck behind the net. Jack Harvey passed from behind the net to Kamil Bednarik and he snapped a shot past UVM's Axel Mangbo to make it 1-0 with his fourth goal of the year.
- After a strong second from the Catamounts BU doubled their advantage with 5:22 to play in the middle frame. Seconds after UVM successfully killed off a Terriers power play Charlie Trethewey scored his first career goal to make it 2-0. On a broken transition effort Trethewey stepped into a slapshot at the top of the slot and beat Mangbo.
- With 2:35 to play in the second period Colin Kessler found Matteo Michels in alone behind the Boston University defense on a breakaway. Michels made a fake and then shot high glove but was robbed by BU's Yegorov.
- The Catamounts cut the Terriers lead in half with Jonah Aegerter's third goal of the season at the 9:08 mark of the third period. Kessler fed Caeden Herrington at the point, and he quickly snapped a shot toward Yegorov. A BU defender blocked the shot, but Aegerter quickly gathered the puck, spun and fired it past Yegorov on the near post to make it 2-1.
