COACH'S QUOTE
The first combined event competition of the year is always a good opportunity to see where the athletes are at. Taking stock of what needs work, and allowing their bodies to remember what it takes to successfully complete two long days of competition before they are asked to do so in a competition setting. I thought the three did exceptionally well given the time of year. Vaughn completed his first collegiate decathlon and it was the 11th best performance all time at UVM. He and Jackson both had a number of personal bests during their competition," said associate head coach
Kasey Hill. "Kayla had middle-of-the-road performances through all seven events, but still came away with an overall personal best. Truly showing that consistency in training and recovery efforts pays off. The highlight of the meet was
Jackson King besting his past decathlon score by over 500 points and jumping to seventh all time on the UVM top 10 list as well as breaking the 6000 point barrier for the first time."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kayla Myers placed third in the heptathlon with 4138 points, a personal best and the eighth-most in program history.
- Jackson King placed fourth in the decathlon with 6232 points, a personal best. He also recorded personal bests in the 100 meters, discus, pole vault, and javelin. His 6232 points are the seventh most in program history.
- Vaughan Larkin placed sixth in the decathlon with 5722 points. He recorded personal bests in the long jump, pole vault, javelin, and 1500. His 5722 points are the ninth most in program history.
