Track and Field Wraps Up Competition at America East Championships

America East Championships
DURHAM, N.H. – Vermont Track and Field wrapped up America East Championships with one individual champion and sixth all-conference finishers. The Catamount women finished seventh with 55 points, and the men were eighth with 43 points.

"So many excellent performances today. Earning All-Conference is a big deal, so I'd like to recognize Emma, Samantha, Conor, Isabella, Jameson, and Rachel. Watching Rachel blast the last 300m of that victory in the 800m, and then seeing how happy her teammates became was a real treat for me as her coach. I saw everyone laying it on the line for the Green and Gold all weekend. And I saw teammates take care of each other through the good and the challenging moments," said head coach Matt Belfield. "Looking forward to a bunch more outstanding marks in the post-season now and want to thank all that have finished their seasons and/or careers for all they have contributed to the program."

HOW IT HAPPENED

Rachel Barba won the 800 with a time of 2:09.37, which is sixth fastest in program history.
Samantha Alexander came in third in the discus with a throw of 40.78 meters.
Emma Wapshare earned third in the javelin with a throw of 42.72 meters.
Isabella Fryer came in third in the 5000 with a time of 16:58.23, which is the sixth fastest time in program history. She was fifth in the 1500 with a time of 4:41.60.
Conor Moses earned third in the javelin with a throw of 58.02 meters.
Jackson King placed fourth in the decathlon with 6290 points, which is the sixth most in program history.
Sophia Filali came in fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:03.74.
The women's 4x400 relay came in fifth with a time of 3:54.48.
The men's 4x400 relay came in fifth with a time of 3:14.53, which is a school record.
Kenneth Morrissey was sixth in the 800 with a time of 1:50.91, which is the second fastest time in program history.
Kayla Myers finished the heptathlon in sixth was 4258 points, which is a personal best for her. She came in eighth in the long jump with a jump of 5.49 meters.
Vaughan Larkin was sixth in the decathlon with 6125 points, which was ninth most in program history.
The men's 4x100 relay came in seventh with a time of 43.33.
Sophie Christopher was seventh in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:06.01.
The women's 4x800 relay team was seventh with a time of 9:32.04.
The women's 4x100 relay finished eighth with a time of 52.79.
Alyssa Bourque placed eighth in the javelin with a throw of 32.12 meters.
The men's 4x800 relay came in eighth with a time of 7:49.90.
Ryleigh Garrow tied for ninth in the high jump with a jump of 1.50 meters.
Eli Lammi finished ninth in the discus with a throw of 45.36 meters.
Kyle Hoffman was 10^th in the 400 with a time of 48.75, which is sixth fastest in program history.
Clare Kelly earned 10^th in the 5000 with a time of 17:26.80.

NOTES

Jameson Sparks, Barba, Wapshare, Alexander, Moses, Fryer make up the Catamounts six all-conference finishers this year.
