Track and Field Prepares for New England Championships

BURLINGTON, Vt – Vermont Track and Field will travel to Amherst, Mass., for the third time this season to compete in the New England Championships hosted by UMass Amherst. Lancer Timing will provide the live results.

VERMONT WOMEN OUTLOOK

Last week at the America East Championships, the Catamount women had four all-conference finishers and one champion. They finished seventh with 55 points.
Rachel Barba won the 800 in 2:09.37, the sixth fastest time in program history, and earned all-conference honors.
Emma Wapshare (javelin), Samantha Alexander (discus), and Isabella Fryer (5000) were the other all-conference finishers.
Fryer also added a top 10 mark in the 5000, with a time of 16:58.23.
At last year's New England championships, the Vermont women scored five points, with Sophia Filali and Kayla Myers scoring.

VERMONT MEN OUTLOOK

At last week's America East Championships, the Catamount men had two all-conference finishers and were eighth with 43 points.
Jameson Sparks (Steeplechase) and Conor Moses (Javelin) earned the all-conference honors.
Sparks also set the school record in the steeplechase, running 8:54.96, which breaks the record by more than two seconds. The men's 4x400 relay team also set a school record, running 3:14.53 to finish fifth.
William Locke, Bennett Harrison-Michaels, Jackson King, Kenneth Morrissey, Vaughan Larkin, and Kyle Hoffman recorded top 10 marks in program history.
At last year's New England championships, Vermont men scored 25 points, with Locke, Jake Voynar, Alex Siaton, Sparks, and King all scoring points.
