COACH'S QUOTE
"One of the toughest things in sports is when you feel like you played a good game, but you didn't get the result," said Head Coach
Steve Wiedler. "We have to stay the course. We played hard, we had a lot of good chances. That's a good team and a good goalie we played against. Recover, refresh, get ready for tomorrow."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a great early start from the Catamounts with Hrabal making 11 saves in the game's opening 10 minutes the Minutemen scored the opening goal of the game 11:07 into the first period.
- Lucas Olvestad kept the puck in along the boards and fired a quick shot towards Aiden Wright. UMass' Owen Mehlenbacher knocked it down in front of the net and then Cam O'Neill backhanded it home to make it 1-0 with his third goal of the season.
- The Minutemen doubled their advantage midway through the second period. Mehlenbacher one-timed home a pass from Cam Dunn and it slid just under the arm of Wright to make it 2-0 at the 8:18 mark.
- Olvestad made it 3-0 for the Minutemen with 1:54 to play in the middle frame. Through a ton of traffic, he placed a wrist shot just inside the post from the point for his third goal of the season. Francesco Dell'Elce and Bo Cosman earned assists on the play.
- Larry Keenan added an insurance marker for the Minutemen 6:50 into the third period. His fourth tally of the season was assisted by Mehlenbacher and O'Neill.
