COACH'S QUOTE
"Today was a real tooth and nail battle and obviously it's disappointing not to get the result we wanted but there were a lot of positive takeaways," said Head Coach
Jim Plumer. "We played much better today and again
Tara Bach was outstanding. Cornell is an excellent team, and it took a 5v3 goal to beat us. Time will tell but if we can learn to be a little more disciplined, we can really grow from this weekend."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless opening two periods where UVM tallied 18 shots on goal compared to the Big Red's 19 shots on goal, it was Cornell that capitalized on a five-on-three advantage to open scoring. Rose Dwyer was able to get her first goal of the season to go, putting the Big Red up by one goal 7:46 into the final period.
- Three penalties in the third period set Vermont back making it hard to orchestrate a comeback as the Big Red ultimately skated away with the 1-0 victory and weekend sweep on home ice.
