COACH'S QUOTE
"Good effort from our guys," said Head Coach
Steve Wiedler. "A lot of credit to Brock. They're a very well coached team. It was so great to be back in front of our fans in the Gut. I think the fans got us so amped up that we had some first period jitters. We settled in and found our game after that. Definitely, some things to clean up and work through, but you can't learn that until you play someone in a different color jersey. Big week ahead to get ready for a really good Bentley team."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brock opened scoring 11:59 into action, seeing Natan Ethier find Zack Stringer in front who flicked a shot bar down, gaining his squad a 1-0 lead.
- Alexis Cournoyer doubled Brock's lead 12:37 into the opening period while on the power play, propelling the Badgers in front 2-0.
- Vermont found its scoring in the second, getting a goal from Logan Renkowski with 13:10 on the clock using a wraparound shot to beat Will Hambley to the bottom right corner, cutting the deficit in half, 2-1.
- The Catamounts knotted the game at 2-2 while on the power play with 7:34 of the middle frame remaining. Ethan Burroughs secured Vermont's second goal, attempting to send a pass cross crease, but when a Badger defender sprawled out to block the pass, Burroughs was able to slap the puck that came back to him in the back of the net, scoring the game equalizing goal.
- UVM took the lead 5:23 into the final period when Andoni Fimis walked the top blue line from right to left, unleashing a wicked wrist shot to the top right corner of Ben Bonisteel, launching the Catamounts in front 3-2.
- Michael Hagens sealed the win for Vermont with an empty net tally with 21 seconds to play. Sebastian Törnqvist and Cédrick Guindon earned assists on the clincher.
