COACH'S QUOTE
"Have to really break down the video to learn from that one," said Head Coach
Steve Wiedler. "Bentley played to a great identity. Once they got up two they made it really hard to come back. We had some good looks, but I would want to wait till we watch the tape to pass any judgement on our play."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vermont came out strong in the opening frame outshooting the Falcons 8-0 in the games' opening nine minutes. Bentley's Lukas Swedin was sharp early and padded them aside including four Catamount chances on the power play.
- The Falcons opened the scoring 7:04 into the first period on a fortuitous bounce in front of the Vermont net. Jimmy Doyle centered a feed through the slot, and it deflected off James Duerr's skate and in for his first career goal with Bentley.
- Doyle made it a two-goal lead for the Falcons with 5:57 to play in the first period. Marton Nemes intercepted a UVM pass and hit Doyle with a quick pass to send him in alone on Aiden Wright. Doyle deked to his backhand and roofed a shot for his first goal of the season.
- Colin Kessler came inches away from cutting the deficit in half 4:22 into the middle frame. From the top of the faceoff circle, he one-timed a feed from Ethan Burroughs that beat Swedin, but not the far post.
- Swedin made 16 saves in the final two periods to seal his third career shutout.
