HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the second straight night the Catamounts opened the scoring. Thomas Sinclair won a faceoff right back to Daniel Sambuco and he quickly ripped a wrist shot past Samuel Richard to make it 1-0 5:06 into the contest.
- At the 10:39 mark of the first period Nate Misskey tied the contest with his third goal of the season. The first year defenseman pinched down into the Vermont slot and received a pass from his teammate Chris Delaney before rifling a shot top corner past Vermont's Aiden Wright.
- Jay Ahearn put the River Hawks ahead 2:30 later with his team-leading 11th goal of the season. A Vermont defenders stick broke behind their net and Mirko Buttazzoni found Ahearn alone in front for a quick tap-in to make it 2-1.
- Lowell extended its lead in the second period during an extended five-on-three power play. Philip Törnqvist blocked back-to-back shots from Buttazzoni but on the second rebound Mirko put it home for his fifth goal of the season to make it 3-1.
- Dalyn Wakely made it a three-goal lead 1:23 into the third period on a two-on-two transition rush. Chris Delaney fed a cross-ice feed to Wakely and he fired a shot off the crossbar and in to make it 4-1.
- With 6:45 to play in regulation the Catamounts got one back on Jack Malinski's first goal of the season. Massimo Lombardi and Mateo Michels battled for the puck along the side of the Lowell net and Michels stick-checked the puck off a Lowell defender and towards Malinski. Malinski stepped into a slap shot at the top of the slot and wired it past Richard making it 4-2.
- With 2:01 to play in regulation the River Hawks sealed the contest with an empty-netter from Misskey while shorthanded.
