COACH'S QUOTE
"Excited to get the W, we know how important each game is," said Head Coach Sarah Dalton Graddock. "I thought we did a great job of controlling the first two quarters which was important when weather shifted. Another important game next week."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • By the 9:30 mark of the opening quarter, the Catamounts were able to secure a pair of unanswered goals, seeing Caitlin Haggerty score on a free-position attempt and Lindsay Lefebvre find the back of the net while Vermont was a woman-up, earning the 2-0 advantage. Haggerty earned an assist on Vermont's second goal.
  • Vermont made it 3-0 with 7:41 remaining in the first quarter, this time seeing Lauren Lefebvre score her 12th of the season after being fed by Lydia Doraz, forcing UMBC to take a timeout and regroup as the Catamounts gained a 3-0 lead.
  • Following a UMBC response from Sam Hewitt, the Catamounts proceeded to score back-to-back goals courtesy of Haggerty and Lindsay Lefebvre, heading into the second quarter with a 5-1 lead. Both goals were during a woman-up advantage.
  • Jane Trauger got scoring started in the second frame, scoring her 22nd goal of the season, unassisted, propelling UVM to a 6-1 advantage with 12:53 remaining until halftime.
  • Ava Wilde found Doraz a little under one minute later for Vermont's seventh goal of the game, seeing the Catamounts take a commanding 7-1 lead.
  • Vermont's Karina Sethi scored the final goal in the second quarter as the Catamounts carried an 8-3 advantage into halftime.
  • Both teams went back-and-forth trading goals to begin the third quarter as Vermont maintained the lead, 11-5, by the first timeout in the third quarter with 5:20 left to play until the final frame. Ali Cabot, Doraz, and Trauger were the three Vermont goalscorers before the UMBC timeout.
  • No goals were scored for the remainder of the third quarter as Vermont entered the final frame with a six-goal cushion.
  • UMBC outscored UVM 3-1 in the final quarter as snowfall began to pour down rapidly, but the damage was already done as Vermont walked away with the 12-8 win from Virtue Field, earning the first conference win of the season.
