BURLINGTON, Vt. - Vermont (6-1) defeated Merrimack (0-7, 0-1 NEC), 6-0, Tuesday afternoon on Rally Around Mental Health Day at Moulton Winder Field. Alicia Battistelli recorded her first career hat trick, while the Catamount defense held the Warriors to a shutout.

Battistelli recorded a goal with 7:53 remaining in the first quarter after redirecting a shot by Veerle Nijhuis to put the Catamounts on the board.Â

Consu de Castro doubled the Vermont lead with 6:44 remaining in the first quarter.

With 10:05 remaining in the third quarter, Castro scored her second goal of the game off assists from Fiona McMahon and Lara Cleophas.

Addie DelOrefice tacked on the fourth goal of the game after redirecting the initial shot from McMahon with 7:46 remaining in the third quarter.

Just 23 seconds into the fourth quarter, Battistelli scored her second goal of the game after redirecting DelOrefice's shot into the back of the net.

With 11:08 remaining, DelOrefice found Battistelli in front of Merrimack's goalkeeper, who swept the ball over the blocker for her third goal of the game.
