Our Mission
To integrate sport psychology and mental health counseling into a collaborative and comprehensive continuum of care for student-athletes. CSPC staff provides clinical, consultation, and outreach services to optimize the personal, social, emotional, academic, and athletic growth and performance of student-athletes. We contribute to the mission of UVM Athletics in supporting the overall wellbeing of student-athletes, coaches, and programs, while promoting equity and diversity, and fostering the pursuit of academic and athletic excellence.Â

Our Founding
Catamount Sport Psychology & Counseling (CSPC) is a collaborative initiative between the Department of Athletics and Center for Health & Wellbeing which was launched prior to the 2017-18 athletic season. Former student-athletes Kelly Lennon (Swimming & Diving) and Trae Bell-Haynes (Men's Basketball) laid the foundation for the CSPC initiative through their work in creating the "Rally Around Mental Health" program. That effort was instrumental in highlighting the need for far greater mental health support in Athletics and served as an important impetus for this initiative.
