NOTES: Became the 30th Catamount in school history to top the 1,000 point mark with 14 points in a win over Stony Brook on February 6 ... Finished 24th all-time in scoring (1,085), fourth in blocks (131) and fifth in field goal percentage (54.4).
Coach Lonergan on Evan Fjeld: “Evan is a special young man that will be a major part of our offense this season. He had a terrific junior year and we are hoping his senior year is even better. Evan has gotten a lot stronger in the last 14 months and this will allow him to become one of the top forwards in the conference. He is a very coachable young man that does so many things that help you win games. I am excited for Evan's senior year and I know his hard work in the offseason will really pay off for him.”
2010-11 Season: An all-conference performer, he started all 31 games that he played in as a senior … Had the best year of his career, leading Vermont by averaging 14.5 points per game … He led the America East in field goal percentage (54.3) and blocks per game (1.9), while finishing ninth in rebounding (6.3 pg) … Finished 36th in the nation in field goal percentage and 63rd in blocks per game … Earned three double-doubles on the year and reached double figures in scoring a team-best 25 times … Reached double digits in scoring in 13 of the first 14 games of the year … Poured in a career-high 26 points in a loss at UConn … Topped 20 points in four of the first six games of the year … Added 23 in a win at Quinnipiac on 10-for-13 shooting and four blocks … Scored 25 points and pulled down seven rebounds in a win over NJIT and followed that up with 20 points and nine rebounds in a victory over Dartmouth … Earned his first double-double of the year with 18 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Yale … Tallied 19 points and 11 rebounds in a road victory at Iona … Netted 20 points in an overtime win against Mount St. Mary’s … Earned his third and final double-double of the year with 18 points and 10 rebounds at home vs. Maine … Had 19 points, seven rebounds, four blocks and four assists in a win at Maine that clinched the America East Regular Season Championship.
2009-10 Season: One of the most improved Catamounts, he stepped up as a junior to become an all-conference performer … Finished third on the team in scoring (10.7 ppg) and second in rebounding (6.1 rpg) … Led the America East in field goal percentage by shooting 54.7 percent on the year and upped that to 65.2 percent in league games only … He also placed fourth in the league in blocks (1.2 bpg), eight in rebounds and 10th in free throw percentage (75.3%) … Came in fourth in the league in free throw percentage in conference games only, connecting on 83.1 percent of his attempts … Reached double figures in points 20 times and for rebounds on four occasions … Also earned three double-doubles … Scored 19 points on 8-for-12 shooting as UVM upset Rutgers … Set a career-high with 12 rebounds at Drexel … Earned his first double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds at home vs. Stony Brook … Scored 22 points and added nine rebounds in a win over UNH … Set a new career-high with 24 points at Stony Brook … Scored 13 points and added nine boards against Syracuse.
2008-09 Season: Played in all 33 games, while making one start as a sophomore … Reached double figures three times as he averaged 4.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game … Scored a career-high 18 points on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting performance at home against New Hampshire … Went five games without missing a field goal, going 15-for-15 spanning from January 19-31 … Recorded a season-high eight rebounds against Yale … Blocked a season-high two shots on three occasions … Recorded a career-high two steals four different times during the year … Dished out a career-high three assists against Dartmouth.
2007-08 Season: Played in 20 games, making 15 starts in an injury-plagued freshman year … Averaged 5.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest ... Scored four points and grabbed three rebounds in his Catamount debut at George Mason ... Tallied five points and four rebounds off the bench at UMBC on 1/9 ... Scored a career-high 14 points and pulled down four rebounds in his first career start in a 64-61 win over New Hampshire ... Notched nine points and six rebounds in a road victory over Maine ... Scored six points in a 72-62 home win over Stony Brook ... Chipped in six points in a win at Boston University ... Grabbed six rebounds against UMBC ... Scored six points in a 83-78 road win over Binghamton ... Tallied six points against Albany ... Scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds off the bench in a 89-58 home win over Maine ... Pulled down a career-high nine rebounds to go along with eight points in a win over Binghamton in the America East Quarterfinals ... Scored 10 points in the America East Semifinals against UMBC.
Prior to UVM: The 6-foot-8 Fjeld (fee-eld) comes to Vermont from Durham, N.C. where he played for Durham Academy ... As a junior he averaged 14 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.4 blocks per game while being named all-conference and all-area second team ... He was a Top 40 All-Star at the Eastern Invitational, a Five-Star All-Star and his AAU team placed fifth at the national championship during his junior season ... As a senior he averaged 22 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 2.5 blocks per contest as a team captain ... A McDonald’s All-American nominee, he was also named all-conference and all-state as a senior.
