Biography
Coach Becker on McKeaney: "We hope Ryan will continue to develop this season. Last year he wasn’t quite ready physically, but as a sophomore now I expect him to push our other post players and make a big jump. He is a skilled post player who needs to continue to get stronger and compete every day in practice."
CAREER HONORS:
• 2011 America East Academic Honor Roll
2011-12 Season: Appeared in 10 games as a sophomore … Tallied two points and a rebound in wins over Binghamton and UMBC … Hit a jump shot in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against No. 1 seed North Carolina.
2010-11 Season: Appeared in 16 games as a freshman … Scored his first career points in a win over Dartmouth … Added three points in a victory at home over Stony Brook.
Prior to UVM: McKeaney played his high school basketball at Cherokee High School in his hometown of Marlton, N.J. … The 6-foot-9 forward was a team captain as a senior and helped lead Cherokee to win the NJ Group IV State Championship, while earning Second Team All-Olympic Conference honors … McKeaney was also named Second Team All-Olympic Conference as a junior.
Personal: Is the son of James and Kathleen McKeaney … Has two younger brothers, Eddie and Bobby … His mother played basketball at Mount St. Mary’s … Is undecided on a major.
