Biography

GRADUATE SENIOR SEASON (2020-21): Saw action in 11 games as key reserve forward … Averaged 6.6 points and 2.2 rebounds … Had two games with at least 10 points … Notched a 17-point game and made five three-pointers against Stony Brook on Feb. 14 … Shot 48.1% from the floor, 52.6% from three-point land, and 92.9% from the line … Canned a triple in six games … Grabbed five boards against Stony Brook on Feb. 14 … Denied one shot … Registered three steals … Made four free throws twice … Had five games with a perfect free-throw percentage

BEFORE VERMONT: Posted 7.9 points per game and shot 56.0% from the floor for the Huskies in 68 career games … In 2019-20, he played in four games before an ankle injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season … Scored a season-high 18 points and five rebounds at UMass in his second to last game of the year … Averaged 9.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game for the season ... Shot 71 percent (17-for-24) from the floor … As a sophomore, he notched 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field, two rebounds, a couple assists, and a block in the CAA Championship win over Hofstra… Tied a career best with 21 points and secured his second double-double of the year with 12 rebounds in 37 minutes in a win over Towson … Recorded his first career double-double against Bucknell with a career-best 21 points and 12 rebounds … As a rookie, he played in all 33 games with 6.6 points per game and shot 56.8% from the floor … Erupted to lead the team with 17 points, his new career-high, during win over UNCW (1/13) ... Put up a career-high 21 points against UNCW, including eight in overtime … Before college, he was rated a four-star recruit by ESPN, a three-star recruit by Scout and a three-star recruit by Rivals … a three-year letterwinner at Northeastern Mount Hermon School … started his high school career at Prout School where he averaged 18 ppg and 10 rpg in his freshman season … Helped his school to a school record 30 wins behind 10 ppg and 5 rpg in his senior season at NMH where the Hoggers made an appearance in the National Championship Game … Named NEPSAC AAA Honorable Mention in his senior season … Guided NMH win the NEPSAC AAA Championship in his junior season, one of the best prep school leagues in the country.

PERSONAL: Son of Jay and Paivi Murphy and has two brothers - Erik and Alex … Father, Jay, played basketball at Boston College from 1980-84 and went on to a four-year NBA career playing two seasons each with the Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Bullets before furthering his professional career in Italy and France … Mother, Paivi, a native of Finland, played basketball professionally in Sweden …  Brothers Erik and Alex both played Division I basketball … Erik played four years at the University of Florida before he was drafted 49th overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 2013 NBA Draft and now plays professionally in France … Alex played at both Duke (2012-14) and Florida (2014-16) before finishing his collegiate career at Northeastern (2016-17) …  Graduated from Northeastern with a degree in psychology
