BEFORE VERMONT: Shungu was a two-time Burlington Free Press Mr. Basketball selection and a three-time state champion at Rice Memorial High School ... Shungu averaged 21.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.2 steals per game as a senior and led the Green Knights to their sixth straight appearance in the Division I final at Patrick Gym ... He is the first Rice grad to suit up for the Catamounts since big man Pat Bergmann did so from 2009 to 2012.
