VERMONT MEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK | CaTV Preview | Game Notes (.pdf)Vermont (1-0-0, 1-0-0 HEA) hosts former ECAC rival Clarkson (2-0-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) on Friday (Oct. 17) at 7:05 p.m. in the home opener at Gutterson Fieldhouse to begin a home-and-home series with the Golden Knights. The schools face off again on Saturday (Oct. 18) in Potsdam, New York at 7 p.m. for UVM's first trip to Cheel Arena in a decade. Live high definition video is available for free via CatamounTV.com for the Friday home opener. Both games can be heard on WVMT 620-AM and SportsJuice.com with pre-game radio coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.

CATS OPEN SEASON IN STYLE | RecapJonathan Turk scored his first career hat trick as Vermont posted a convincing 6-2 victory over 16th-ranked Northeastern last Saturday in the season opener at Matthews Arena in Hockey East play. The Catamounts used a four-goal second period to blow the game open, and Turk's final goal late in the third period sealed the win. Turk added an assist for a four-point performance, while captain
Mike Paliotta also registered four points with a goal and three assists.
Mario Puskarich chipped in a goal and two assists on the night, while
Alexx Privitera and
Kyle Reynolds each collected a pair of assists.
WEEKLY HONORS FOR TURKJonathan Turk was named the Warrior Hockey East Player of the Week on Monday following his four-point game at Northeastern. The junior was also recognized as the NCAA No. 1 Star of the Week on Tuesday as he became the first player in the nation to score a hat trick. He has already matched the goal total from each of his first two collegiate seasons. Turk joined radio voice

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS | WebsiteClarkson posted 3-1 road victories over Niagara and RIT last weekend to open the season 2-0-0 after going 21-17-4 a year ago. The Golden Knights return just one of their top five scorers from last season as junior Jeff DiNallo recorded 25 points in 40 games. Senior Joe Zarbo has four points through two games this year to lead the team. Steve Perry has started both games in net with a .941 SV% after registering a 2.05 GAA and .917 SV% in 23 starts during the 2013-14 campaign. Casey Jones begins his fourth season as the head coach at Clarkson.
SERIES HISTORYThis weekend marks the 81st and 82nd all-time meetings between Vermont and Clarkson in a series which dates back to 1971. The Golden Knights lead the overall series 52-26-2 and own a 22-12-1 record against UVM at Gutterson Fieldhouse. Vermont edged then-No. 9 Clarkson 3-2 last year in the Sheraton/TD Bank Catamount Cup as
Brody Hoffman stopped 29 shots. UVM is 6-3-1 in the last 10 meetings and 3-2-1 under
Kevin Sneddon.
