America East Release
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Vermont swimming and diving team has swept the America East weekly awards for the period ending November 16.
Shannon Cowley has been named the conference's swimmer of the week and
Maggie Preston has earned diver of the week honors, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Cowley broke a UVM pool record in the 100 breast (1:05.28) and also helped her relay squad set a pool record in the 400 medley relay (3:55.55) on Saturday in a double dual meet with CCSU and Merrimack. The following day, Cowley collected three individual victories against Bryant in the 100 breast (1:06.43), 200 breast (2:25.37) and 200 IM (2:11.68). The rookie also helped guide her relay squad to a Bryant pool record in the 200 medley relay (1:48.25), as Vermont earned its seventh straight victory.

Preston swept the diving competition for the fourth consecutive meet on Saturday as the junior posted first-place scores in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. Preston registered the top diving score of the afternoon in the 3-meter (243.97), and also took victory in the 1-meter (232.72) to earn the sweep. The diver of the week honor is the third straight for Preston.

Vermont travels to Pennsylvania for the Bucknell Invitational spanning November 21-23. Competition begins with the preliminary heats on Friday (Nov. 21) at 10 a.m.
