Final Results: Men | Women
AMHERST, Mass. – The Vermont men's cross country won the Minuteman Invitational at UMass Amherst with 37 points on Saturday in the Catamounts' second meet of the season. The women placed fifth overall in the annual event with 120 points.

After winning the America East Pre-Conference Meet in Maine last weekend,
Dan Moroney claimed another individual title going away as he finished with a time of 18:53.40.
Patrick Coppinger (19:17.60) and
Dylan Souder (19:19.10) came across the finish line back-to-back in sixth and seventh to give the Catamounts three top-10 finishers.

Thomas O'Leary (19:29.20) and
Fletcher Hazlehurst (19:30.20) were separated by just one second as they occupied the 11
th and 12
th spots in the 6K race. Rookie
Aaron Lucci took 16
th as he ran a time of 19:37.30, while fellow freshman
Noah Bell rounded out the team's top-7 in 25
th with a mark of 19:48.20.

Alicia Clark led the women's team for the second straight week by placing 11
th overall with a time of 17:47.70. Fellow junior
Nikki Braceras also broke the 18-minute mark in the 5K as she crossed the finish line in 17:59.20 for 18
th overall.
Julie Richer (18:15.40) and
Hilary Rawding (18:23.50) earned 31
st and 34
th in the race, while
Amber Peirsol ran a time of 18:39.00 for 39
th.
Freshmen
Colleen Yancey (46
th, 18:55.00) and
Laura Dissly (59
th, 19:15.30) rounded out the top-7 on the day for the women's squad.
"Dan was awesome again today, and the men really responded well to our challenge to win this race against some very good teams," said head coach
Matt Belfield. "Fletcher's improvement and the solid races by Dylan, Pat and Thomas gave us what we needed. The women raced well but we're just not all there yet. It's good to have Nikki back racing and Alicia and Julie were very aggressive against the national level squads from BC and UConn."

Vermont has next weekend off before hosting a home meet against UMass Lowell on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Red Rocks Park in South Burlington. The event is schedule to begin at 11:30 a.m.
