The Vermont men's basketball team returns home for the first time since Nov. 18 when it takes on Marist Sunday afternoon at Patrick Gym. The Catamounts are 1-0 this season in front of the home fans. Tipoff against the Red Foxes is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Wednesday in Gainesville: Vermont trailed by only five at halftime but Florida outscored the Catamounts 52-33 after the break en route to an 86-62 win in non-conference action at the O'Connell Center. Vermont slips to 2-4 on the season. For Vermont,
Cam Ward turned in his second-straight solid performance recording his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds – both team-highs.
Ernie Duncan was right on his average chipping in 13 including three more from downtown and
Ethan O'Day came off the bench to score 12 points.
Everett Duncan also had a career game, scoring his first UVM points (finished with eight) and collecting eight rebounds.
About Marist: Marist was predicted to finish 8th in the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Red Foxes are coming off a 79-72 loss to Kent State. Freshman Brian Parker scored a career-high 30 points to go along with seven rebounds and two steals. Khallid Hart also pumped in 27 for Marist in the loss. The Marist backcourt has been most promising so far this season. Hart leads the team in scoring at 25 ppg while Parker enters Sunday's game at a 16.7 clip. The tandem accounts for nearly 60% of Marist's total scoring. Head Coach Mike Maker begins his second season at the helm in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. after a tremendous six-year stint at Division III Williams College. Maker took the Ephs to the Final Four three times and to the DIII national title game twice. He compiled a 147-32 record in Williamstown.
Series History: Sunday will be the 15th meeting all-time between Marist and Vermont with the Catamounts holding a 9-5 edge, including six straight wins.
Last Meeting vs. Marist: In their last meeting (Nov. 19, 2011), Four McGlynn and Luke Apfeld combined for 41 points in an 85-74 Vermont win in the Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament. UVM closed that game on an 8-2 run. Marist's last win vs. Vermont was on Nov. 27, 1998 (67-60 in Poughkeepsie).
Vermont vs. Marist at Patrick Gym: Sunday's game will be just the fifth time Marist has played Vermont at Patrick Gym but the Cats have dominated the Red Foxes at home. UVM is 3-1 vs. Marist in games played at Patrick Gym. The only Red Fox win at Patrick Gym occurred all the way back in February of 1982.
At the Line: Vermont is shooting lights out from the free throw line so far this season. The Cats are 104-127, which is 81.9%. That ranks fourth in the country behind just Oakland, La Salle and St. Bonaventure.
