Last Time Out vs. UCSB: Kurt Steidl scored 19 points for the second straight game and the Vermont men's basketball team held off a late UC Santa Barbara charge to pick up a 75-68 win over the Gauchos at Patrick Gym Wednesday night. Steidl tied his career-high with the 19 points on 5-of-12 shooting to lead a trio of Catamounts in double-figures. Darren Payen was dominant in limited minutes finishing with 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting while Cam Ward chipped in with 11 – his sixth double-digit scoring performance in the last seven games. Both teams got off to slow starts as it took nearly ten minutes for either team to score ten points. After foul trouble plagued the opening minutes, the game turned into a matchup of 2-3 zones and Vermont snatched the upperhand. UVM built a 14-point second-half lead before a pair of late threes from UCSB cut the lead to six. Ethan O'Day and Steidl both hit a pair of free throws down the stretch and UVM held on.

About Fisher: Fisher College, located in the heart of Boston, is an NAIA Division II Independent. The Falcons are coming off a 102-63 win over Mitchell College on Wednesday. Tyler Shular scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the way. Shular, a senior combo guard, leads the Falcons in most offensive categories including points, rebounds and assists. He comes into the game averaging 20.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Kyle Holmes and Malik Wilson have played well during the early parts of the season for Fisher averaging 14.5 and 10.5 points per game, respectively. David Lindberg, in his tenth full season at the helm, has guided the Falcons to four Sunrise Conference Championships (the last coming in 2011) and back-to-back trips to the NAIA National Tournament (2006-2007). Lindberg has posted a 167-167 record in his career while also serving as the Associate Director of Admissions for Fisher College.

Series History: This will be first all-time meeting between Fisher and Vermont. The Catamounts did play another NAIA team this season when UVM alum Rollie Massimino brought his Keiser University Seahawks to Burlington.

Captain Kurt: Over his last two games, Kurt Steidl is averaging 19 points per contest and shooting 47% from downtown (8-for-17). Steidl ranks fifth in the America East this season in 3-pointers made with 23.

Cam Jam: Sophomore guard Cam Ward has reached double-figures in scoring in six of the last seven games.

O'Day Milestone Watch: Ethan O'Day is looking to become the 34th Catamount to reach the 1,000-point plateau and is 51 points away from doing so. The senior is also 47 rebounds away from 500. In a loss at Yale back on Dec. 5, O'Day made the 400th field goal of his career.

Tickets to Saturday's game can be purchased online at UVMathletics.com, in person at the Athletic Ticket Office located on the balcony in Patrick Gymnasium (Mon - Fri; 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.), over the phone during office hours at 802-656-4410, or one hour before game time in the lobby of Patrick Gymnasium.
