ABOUT VERMONTThe Catamounts won three straight games over Sacred Heart, Dartmouth, and NJIT to improve to 4-7 (0-0) on the season before falling to Delaware last week (Dec. 22). Vermont's three consecutive victories were a program-best since the 2011-12 season.
Â
UVM ranks third in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage at a clip of 29.3-percent and their defense holds opponents to just 36.8-percent from the field, the second-lowest percentage in America East.
Â
Vermont's defense also blocks more shots than any other team in the conference (45) and ranks among the top-45 in the NCAA. Behind three players who rank among the top-five in America East, UVM averages 4.9 blocks per game. The Catamounts are a force under the basket, grabbing the most offensive rebounds in the conference (146) and second-most defensive rebounds (281).
LAST TIME OUTAndreana Thomas recorded career-high numbers against Delaware but it was not enough as the Catamounts fell to the Blue Hens 71-60 at the Bob Carpenter Center on Tuesday evening.
Thomas posted a career-high and game-best 26 points, shooting 50-percent (9-for-18) and going 4-for-4 from the foul line.
Sydney Smith added 10 points with two 3-pointers and four rebounds.
Â
Vermont played a confident first quarter at the Carpenter Center taking an early 11-9 lead over the Blue Hens. Repeat pull-up jumpers by Erika Brown shifted the advantage to Delaware. The Blue Hens connected on six of their last eight field goals to create a 3-point cushion, up 18-15 to close out the first 10 minutes.
Â
UVM crept closer to Delaware and found itself within three (51-48) with eight minutes left on the clock. Despite the Catamounts closing in on multiple single-possession opportunities, a final UD push in the last five minutes closed the 11-point game in Delaware's favor.Â
A HOT START FOR HAYLEYFreshman
Hayley Robertson has made a name for herself at UVM in her short time in Burlington. The Toronto, Ontario native is averaging 8.0 ppg, ranks second on the team with 2.5 assists per game, and paces the squad with 15 steals. Robertson has started eight of Vermont's 11 games at guard this season.

Thomas is dishing out four assists per game to lead the team and posted a career-high 26 points against Delaware.
Â
TWO OF A KINDCandice and

The Wrights have been dynamic under the basket as Courtney has grabbed 48 rebounds and Candice has pulled down 47.
Â
CATS IN THE CONFERENCEFour Catamounts are positioned among the top-5 in five categories in the America East standings. Smith has been a force on both ends of the floor this season as she ranks second the conference in 3-pointers made (27) and has blocked the second-most shots (16).
