BURLINGTON, Vt. — Mayer Women's Basketball Head Coach Maureen Magarity announced Friday afternoon that Ryan Weise has been hired as an Assistant Coach.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Ryan again after our time together at Holy Cross," said Magarity. "She is a rising star with an infectious energy and passion for the game. Ryan is loyal, hardworking, and bright, and will have an incredible impact on our program and community."
Weise comes to Vermont after serving as an Assistant Coach at the University of Pennsylvania for the 2025-26 season. Before her time at Penn, Weise served as the Director of Operations under Coach Magarity for two seasons at the College of the Holy Cross. In her first season in 2023-24, she helped the Crusaders to their 13th Patriot League Tournament Championship and the 2023-24 Patriot League Regular Season title.
"I'm incredibly excited to rejoin Coach Magarity's staff at the University of Vermont," said Weise. "Vermont has a strong basketball tradition, a passionate community, and a culture built on hard work and excellence. I'm grateful for the opportunity to assist student-athletes in achieving their goals both on and off the court. I'm looking forward to being a part of the Burlington community, building relationships with our players, and contributing to the continued success of this program!"
Before joining the Crusaders, Weise interned with the women's basketball program at East Stroudsburg University. She assisted the coaching staff with scouting reports, film review, player development, team events, and social media promotion. In 2023, she was selected for the WBCA's "So You Want To Be A Coach" program, a coaching workshop held during the WBCA Convention in Dallas.
During her final season at East Stroudsburg in 2022–23, Weise served as a graduate student and team captain while starting all 29 games. She was a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) All-First Team honoree, named to the Division II Conference Information Directors (D2CIDA) National Player of the Week on Nov. 15, 2022, earned the DII Women's Basketball All-Stats Starting Five recognition for November, and was selected to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization's Pete Nevins Player of the Year and to the Scholar-Athlete Team.
In just two seasons at East Stroudsburg, Weise set program records in three-point percentage (40.3%) and free-throw percentage (82.3%), while ranking second in three-pointers (158), 10th in scoring average (14.7), and 12th in assists (235). She holds two top three marks in single-season three-pointers made, with 97 during the 2022-23 season and 61 during the 2021-22 season. She also ranks third in single-season three-point percentage after shooting 42.7% from beyond the arc.
Before transferring to East Stroudsburg, Weise played at Long Island University from 2018 to 2021, where she served as a two-time team captain during her sophomore and junior seasons. She also earned Northeast Conference (NEC) Prime Performer of the Week honors three times.
She finished her collegiate career between the two stops with 1,371 points, 503 rebounds, 442 assists, and 210 steals.
In the classroom, Weise was a two-time NEC Commissioners' Honor Roll honoree and a three-time NEC Scholar-Athlete award winner. She earned PSAC Scholar Athlete honors twice and was a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team winner.
Weise graduated from Long Island University in May 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Sports Management and graduated from East Stroudsburg University in May 2023 with a Master of Science in Management and Leadership.
