MEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOKVermont hosts the 20
th annual Sheraton/TD Bank Catamount Cup on Tuesday (Dec. 29) and Wednesday (Dec. 30) as Brown, Colgate, and Lake Superior State travel to Gutterson Fieldhouse. The Catamounts face Lake Superior State on Tuesday and Colgate on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m., while Brown plays the early game each day at 4 p.m.

th annual Teddy Bear Toss sponsored by the Vermont Teddy Bear Company on Wednesday (Dec. 30) against Colgate. Fans are asked to bring a bear to toss onto the ice during the second intermission. All bears will be donated to patients at local health centers by members of the Vermont men's and women's hockey teams this winter.
TOURNAMENT HISTORYVermont has captured the Sheraton/TD Bank Catamount Cup title four times in the last seven seasons and five times overall. The Catamounts have earned championships in two of the last three events, and each one has featured a win over a ranked opponent. UVM has a 16-5-1 overall record in the Catamount Cup under
Kevin Sneddon for a .750 winning percentage. Lake Superior State took part in the 2011-12 tournament and beat Vermont 5-3 before falling to RIT 3-1.
ABOUT VERMONTUVM closed the first half of the season at 5-12-2 and sits in a three-way tie for seventh place in Hockey East with a 3-5-2 league record.
Mario Puskarich leads the team in scoring with 16 points on five goals and 11 assists, while
Jarrid Privitera has tallied a team-high eight goals.
Alexx Privitera is tied with his brother for second on the team in scoring and ranks eighth in Hockey East defensive scoring with 10 points.
Packy Munson has started the last three games in net for an injured
Mike Santaguida and has posted a 2.31 goals against average and .922 save percentage.
ABOUT BROWNThe Bears went 2-7-3 during the first half of the season with a 2-5-2 mark in ECAC play and ride a three-game losing streak into the tournament. Nick Lappin leads Brown with 17 points on seven goals and 10 assists, while rookie defenseman Max Gottlieb has also registered 10 assists. Junior Tim Ernst has started all but two games in net with a 2.93 GAA, .896 SV%, and one shutout. Brown graduate Brendan Whittet is in his seventh season as the head coach of the program.
ABOUT COLGATEThe Raiders own a record of 5-11-1 and are currently 2-6-1 in the ECAC. Tyson Spink leads Colgate with 15 points on seven goals and eight assists, while his brother Tylor Spink has collected a team-best nine assists. The Spink brothers have combined for nearly 200 points in their NCAA careers. Junior Charlie Finn has started 16 of the Raiders' 17 contests with a 3.55 GAA and .891 SV%. Head coach Don Vaughan is in his 23
rd season and has accumulated 375 career wins at Colgate.
ABOUT LAKE SUPERIOR STATEThe Lakers enter the tournament at 6-10-4 overall, but they are .500 in the WCHA at 4-4-4. The team is led offensively by J.T. Henke with six goals and 12 points, while Gage Torrel and Anthony Nellis have also added six assists. Sophomore Gordon Defiel has started 14 games between the pipes with a 2.78 GAA and .916 SV%. Rookie Nick Kossoff has two shutouts in six starts and owns a 1.99 GAA and .920 SV%. Damon Whitten is in his second season as the head coach at LSSU.
