MEN'S BASKETBALL NOTEBOOKThe Vermont men's basketball team begins the 2016 portion of its season with a road test at Ivy League power Harvard on Sunday in Cambridge, Mass. Tipoff against the four-time defending Ivy League Champs is scheduled for 2 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN3 with a simulcast on the Ivy League Digital Network.

Last Time Out vs. Siena: Vermont closed out the 2015 calendar year in style staying unbeaten at home and taking down MAAC rival Siena at Patrick Gym, 73-64 on Dec. 29. For the second straight season,
Trae Bell-Haynes torched Siena in the second half as he scored 17 of his game-high 19 points after halftime.
Kurt Steidl scored 12 of his 15 points in the second half as well to go along with five boards. Vermont turned up the intensity defensively in the second half and took a 44-43 lead at the 14:31 mark when Steidl buried a three-pointer curling off a screen. Siena answered quickly with four straight points on jumpers from Oliver and Kenny Wormley. The two sides went blow-for-blow over the next ten minutes and found themselves tied at 56 with 6:34 to play. That's when Bell-Haynes took over and keyed a 16-6 Vermont run to close the game. The sophomore hit a triple to ignite a stretch of seven straight Catamount points, all of which he scored, to put UVM up by eight with two minutes to play.

About Harvard: After struggling out of the gates this season, Harvard has found its stride having won four of its last five and comes into Sunday's game fresh off a 77-57 win over Wofford earlier in the week. Harvard's non-conference schedule featured three teams that have been featured the Associated Press Top 10 and six teams ranked in the RPI Top 150. The Crimson shot a season high 63.8% in the win over Wofford, an NCAA Tournament team a year ago, while dishing out 22 assists. Junior big man Zena Edosomwan powers the Crimson averaging a double-double this season scoring 14.5 points and grabbing 10.7 rebounds per game. Freshman Corey Johnson, who played prep ball at Vermont Academy, ranks second on the team in scoring with 9.7 per game. Tommy Amaker has led the Crimson to four straight NCAA Tournaments, five Ivy League titles and six straight 20-win seasons. He is 167-86 overall at Harvard.

Drew Urquhart, after scoring in double figures only three times in 2014-15, has reached double digits in each of his last three games. He is averaging 10.3 points per game during the stretch.
