Tucker's first of the evening came in the second minute, giving the Catamounts an early 1-0 lead. The battery of
Olivia Hurd and
Rachael Picchi set up Tucker for the shot, which sailed through traffic and past UMass Lowell goalkeeper Kelsey Federico.
After Christa Doiron netted the equalizer in the eighth minute, UVM regained the lead in the 17th minute in a nearly identical sequence as its first tally. Picchi fed the insert to Hurd, opening the door for
Taylor Gaines to fake a shot. In the meantime, Hurd dished to Tucker who fired home.
UMass Lowell's Anouk Lalande sent the teams into halftime tied at two-apiece after scoring in the 27th minute. Doiron inserted a penalty corner to Kate Luchino, who sent the ball toward the cage. Lalande was on the doorstep and redirected it for the goal.
The River Hawks took their first lead of the game when Luchino marked the box score in the 41st minute, then added some insurance seconds later courtesy of Torrie Huk as well as Kristin Aveni in the 45th minute. Aveni (51st minute) and Georgia Cowderoy (53rd minute) wrapped up the night's scoring.
Vermont closes out the regular season on Sunday (Oct. 30), playing host to Maine at 1 p.m. on Senior Day. Fans are encouraged to join us prior to the match as UVM Athletics and the UVM field hockey program recognize the senior duo of
Anne-Marie Farmer and
Emily Snowden.
