Vermont has won four of the last five meetings against its longest standing men's hockey rival, including the last two in Durham. The Catamounts defeated the Wildcats 3-2 in overtime just after New Year's on Jan. 2 during a non-conference game in Burlington.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATSUNH enters the weekend at 10-14-4 with a 4-8-4 record in Hockey East and sits in a four-way tie for sixth place with UVM, UConn, and Northeastern. The Wildcats' loss at Gutterson on Jan. 2 began a seven-game losing streak but they have rebounded with two wins in their last three outings, including one-goal road victories over top-10 teams Providence and UMass Lowell in league play.
Andrew Poturalski ranks second in the nation in points (44) and fourth in goals (21), while his linemate Tyler Kelleher leads the country in assists (33). Sophomore Daniel Tirone has started 25 games in net with an 8-13-4 record, 3.38 goals against average and .899 save percentage. 26th year head coach Dick Umile has compiled 570 career victories during his tenure and will coach his 1,000th NCAA game on Saturday.
SERIES HISTORYFriday marks the 107th all-time meeting in the series, which dates back to the Catamounts' first season as a varsity men's hockey program in 1963. UVM has faced New Hampshire more often than any other school in program history, with St. Lawrence ranking second overall at 93 all-time meetings. The Catamounts have just one loss in their last six games against the Wildcats (4-1-1) and swept their last weekend series at the Whittemore Center 5-2 and 2-1 on Feb. 7-8, 2014.
PRIVITERA NETS OT WINNER | HighlightsJarrid Privitera's second goal of the game just 40 seconds into overtime won the game as the Catamounts snapped the Wildcats' six-game unbeaten streak. Privitera registered his second multi-goal game of the season, while captain
Yvan Pattyn collected a career-high three assists.
Brady Shaw eclipsed the 50-point plateau for his NCAA career with a goal and an assist, both in the first period. UVM held a 37-19 edge in shots, including a 30-10 mark in the first 40 minutes.
IRISH TAKE PAIR AT THE GUTVermont dropped a pair of tight Hockey East games to 10th-ranked Notre Dame last weekend 2-1 and 3-1 at Gutterson. All three new assistant captains

Anthony Petruzzelli each collected a point in the series. Cal Peterson stopped 62 Catamount shots in net for a pair of wins, while
Packy Munson posted 52 saves for UVM. Vermont finished the weekend 8-for-9 on the penalty kill.
