The University of Vermont women's lacrosse team hosts Colgate in the second game of the season on Saturday (Feb. 20) at 12 p.m. at Virtue Field. The game will be streamed online for free via AmericaEast.tv.

Tickets to the game can be purchased online at UVMathletics.com/tickets or one hour before game time at the Gutterson Fieldhouse Box Office.
 
Saturday is Team Poster Day. Fans can receive a free team poster courtesy of the UPS Store Downtown and are encouraged to stay for a postgame autograph session.

ABOUT THE CATAMOUNTS
The Catamounts opened the season on February 15 with an 11-7 loss to Bryant at Virtue Field. UVM trailed the Bulldogs by one at the half and were out scored 7-4 in the final 30 minutes. Meredith Moore led UVM in scoring with four points and a team-high three goals. Alex Bernier also added four points on a pair of goals and assists. Maddy Kuras made her collegiate debut, getting the starting nod in the Vermont net and made 12 stops.
 
Vermont was picked to finish fourth in the 2016 America East Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing third in last season's league standings (4-2 AE; 11-7 overall) and advancing to the America East Semifinals for the third straight year.
 
SCOUTING COLGATE
Saturday marks the season opener for the Raiders, who were picked to finish fourth in the Patriot League.
 
Sophomore midfielder Haley O'Hanlon was tabbed as the Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. O'Hanlon was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year last season, leading Colgate with 34 goals and 51 points.
 
The Raiders went 10-6 last season, 6-2 in league play. Including O'Hanlon, Colgate returns three of its top four scorers from a year ago. Also returning to the mix are senior attackers Emily Peebles (28 gls, 34 pts) and Kallan Murray (20 gls, 14 ast, 34 pts).
 
Colgate lost its starting goalie from last year, Jennie Berglin, to graduation, but returns veterans Molly Diamondstein and Sara Tullio. Both saw limited game action last season.
 
Head coach Heather Young is in her 10th season at the helm of the Raiders. She led Colgate to back-to-back Patriot League titles in 2008 and 2009. She was named the Patriot League Coach of the Year last season for the second time in her career.
 
CATS TO ADD 11 NEWCOMERS IN 2017
Head coach Jen Johnson announced 11 newcomers will join the program in 2017. "This recruiting class has a tremendous amount of skill and athleticism. These 11 players are going to make an impact and add depth in all areas of the field. They hail from competitive club and high school programs, bringing experience and drive to our growing program," said Johnson. Click here to read more about the class.

March 26 vs. Albany (7pm) – In the first night game at Virtue Field in program history, the team will honor the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation. High school lacrosse teams are invited to attend the game for free. Please send an email to Will Hurd (whurd@uvm.edu) to RSVP for complementary tickets and more information.
April 6 vs. UMass Lowell (3pm) – Kids are encouraged to participate in a Postgame Pass & Catch with the Catamounts.
April 30 vs. Binghamton (3pm) – Senior Day & Rally Against Cancer Game presented by Otter Creek Awnings and Vermont Custom Closet & Fan Appreciation Day. UVM will honor its senior class in a pregame ceremony. The Catamounts will also wear pink apparel in support of breast cancer research and efforts to fight the disease by the University of Vermont Cancer Center. Lacrosse players 12 and under along with campers from this past summer are invited to receive free admission by emailing Will Hurd (whurd@uvm.edu) to be placed on a complimentary ticket list. Fans are encouraged to stay following the game for food and prizes as part of Fan Appreciation Day.
 
WHO'S NEXT
The Catamounts hit the road for the first time in 2016, traveling to Marist on Sunday (Feb. 28). Game time is set for 12 p.m. in Poughkeepsie, New York. The game is scheduled to be streamed online at goredfoxes.com.
