ABOUT THE CATAMOUNTSThe Catamounts opened the season on February 15 with an 11-7 loss to Bryant at Virtue Field. UVM trailed the Bulldogs by one at the half and were out scored 7-4 in the final 30 minutes.
Meredith Moore led UVM in scoring with four points and a team-high three goals.
Alex Bernier also added four points on a pair of goals and assists.
Maddy Kuras made her collegiate debut, getting the starting nod in the Vermont net and made 12 stops.

Vermont was picked to finish fourth in the 2016 America East Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing third in last season's league standings (4-2 AE; 11-7 overall) and advancing to the America East Semifinals for the third straight year.

SCOUTING COLGATESaturday marks the season opener for the Raiders, who were picked to finish fourth in the Patriot League.

Sophomore midfielder Haley O'Hanlon was tabbed as the Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. O'Hanlon was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year last season, leading Colgate with 34 goals and 51 points.

The Raiders went 10-6 last season, 6-2 in league play. Including O'Hanlon, Colgate returns three of its top four scorers from a year ago. Also returning to the mix are senior attackers Emily Peebles (28 gls, 34 pts) and Kallan Murray (20 gls, 14 ast, 34 pts).

Colgate lost its starting goalie from last year, Jennie Berglin, to graduation, but returns veterans Molly Diamondstein and Sara Tullio. Both saw limited game action last season.

Head coach Heather Young is in her 10th season at the helm of the Raiders. She led Colgate to back-to-back Patriot League titles in 2008 and 2009. She was named the Patriot League Coach of the Year last season for the second time in her career.

CATS TO ADD 11 NEWCOMERS IN 2017Head coach
Jen Johnson announced 11 newcomers will join the program in 2017. "This recruiting class has a tremendous amount of skill and athleticism. These 11 players are going to make an impact and add depth in all areas of the field. They hail from competitive club and high school programs, bringing experience and drive to our growing program," said Johnson.
