BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Vermont field hockey team will add four newcomers to its roster for the 2016 season. Head coach
Kate Pfeifer announced that Ally McCall (Watertown, Massachusetts), Rachel Phillips
(Asbury, New Jersey),
Isabella Sericolo (Altamont, New York) and Rebekah Silver (Ridgefield, Connecticut) will join the Catamounts next season.
"These four come from very successful athletic backgrounds, and will contribute to our program right away," said Pfeifer. "They are skillful, team players with a real passion for hockey and a desire to win."

Ally McCall, an attacking midfielder, comes to UVM from Watertown, Massachusetts. McCall was a two-sport athlete at Watertown High School competing as a midfielder in field hockey and lacrosse. During her four-year field hockey career at Watertown, McCall tallied 29 goals and dished out 21 assists, while winning four consecutive Division II state championships. As a senior is 2015, McCall captained the Watertown High School field hockey team that set a national record for most games without a loss (160-0).
McCall went on to be named a 2015 Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic Team member, while also being recognized as a member of Watertown's National Honor Society. While at UVM, she plans to pursue a degree in elementary education. McCall's mother Lori was a four-year member of the UMass Lowell ski and tennis teams and her father Paul played three seasons of professional football.
"Ally is accustomed to winning- she won every game in her high school career, and she captained a talented team to that feat this past season. She has great vision of the field and distribution skills."

Rachel Phillips, a defensive back comes to Burlington from Asbury, New Jersey and Warren Hills Regional High School. Phillips was a four-year defenseman for the Warren Hills field hockey team and played midfield in lacrosse.
Warren Hills was a two-time state runner up in 2012 and 2013, while winning the state championship in 2014 and 2015. Phillips was the 2015 team MVP, a conference First-Team member for three years, and was named to the All-North New Jersey Team twice.
Phillips earned Honor Roll recognition all four years of high school and was a member of the National Honor Society as a senior. After attending the summer field hockey camp, Phillips fell in love with Burlington and UVM. "UVM is the perfect fit because I know that I can challenge myself academically, as well as athletically," Phillips said. "UVM is full of different opportunities and I can't wait to take advantage of all of them as a student-athlete."
"Rachel is a trained defender and her presence will be felt in our backfield. She is a competitor, who knows how to transition on attack when needed while maintaining control over the defensive zone."

Isabella Sericolo, a midfielder, comes to UVM from Altamont, New York. At Guilderland High School, Sericolo was a three-sport athlete who competed in field hockey, lacrosse and nordic skiing.
As a captain of all three squads as a senior, Sericolo was also named field hockey Team MVP and was a three-time member of the All-Star Team. Sericolo went to sectionals for nordic skiing three times and was a lacrosse Academic All-American in 2015.
Her father, Tony Sericolo, played ice hockey for American International College and won a Division II National Championship in 1990, while continuing to work as an official NHL linesman.
"Izzy will be an important addition to our midfield. She is a smart player, and knows how to keep possession and build an attack. Her work rate and game sense will help her to be successful here."

Rebekah Silver, a midfielder, comes to Burlington from Ridgefield, Connecticut. Silver piled up 28 goals and 42 assists in four seasons at Ridgefield High School and served as a captain in 2015.
Named Ridgefield High School's Offensive Player of the Year in 2014, Silver was a 2014-15 First Team All-State, All-Conference and All-America honoree, while also being the first field hockey athlete in program history to earn a spot on back-to-back All-State teams. Silver made three appearances between 2013-15 at the National Futures Championship.
Silver comes from an athletic family, as both of her parents were student-athletes in college. Her mother, Judy Silver, was a four-year member of the Williams College field hockey team, and her father, Doug Silver, was a two-year member of the University of Colorado ski team. "I love Burlington and the energy on campus," Silver said. "I felt so welcomed by the UVM field hockey coaching staff and players."
"Rebekah is a student of the game, and always working to improve. She is a talented two-way player and her passion and love for the sport will contribute to our team atmosphere on and off the pitch."
