MEN'S SOCCER NOTEBOOK
Standing at 4-0-0 for the second time in the last three seasons, the 23rd-ranked Vermont men's soccer team travels to Virginia this weekend to compete in the ODU Soccer Classic. The Catamounts face Old Dominion in Norfolk on Friday (Sept. 9) at 7 p.m. before taking on Virginia Commonwealth in Richmond on Sunday (Sept. 11) at 3 p.m. No. 18 Radford rounds out the field for ODU's 41st annual tournament. BACK IN THE RANKINGS
UVM entered the NSCAA top-25 rankings at No. 23 in the country on Tuesday and moved into the No. 1 spot in the East Region, a distinction previously held by UConn. The Catamounts are ranked nationally for the first time since 2005, which is also the last time Vermont started a season 5-0-0. Old Dominion moved up from fourth to eighth in the Southeast Region in the NSCAA Week 2 rankings.

DYNAMIC DUO
Seniors
Brian Wright and
Bernard Yeboah are currently the top scoring duo in the country, having combined for 10 goals and six assists for an astounding 26 points in the first four games of the season. Wright leads the nation in assists (6) and ranks third in total points (14), while Yeboah is tied for second in goals (6) and knotted for fifth in points (12). Wright and Yeboah were named co-MVP's of Vermont's Peter Baldwin Memorial Classic presented by Morgan Stanley last weekend and have combined to earn the season's first two America East Player of the Week awards.

THE WRIGHT STUFF
With 11 points last week in three Catamount wins, Wright moved into second place all-time at UVM in career scoring with 77 points. The senior also moved into third place all-time in both career goals (29) and assists (19). His next goal will tie Mike Mason '89 for second all-time, and he needs six assists to match Jordan Crasilneck '08 for second place. John Koerner '77 leads the program in all three major offensive categories with 45 goals, 26 assists, and 116 points.
CLEAN SHEETS
UVM has posted three consecutive clean sheets since allowing two goals in the season opener. The Catamounts rank 21st in the country with a team goals against average of 0.48 and haven't allowed a goal in the last 300 minutes of game time. Rookie
Aron Runarsson has shutouts in each of his first two collegiate starts, while senior
Eric Venezia posted a shutout in his second start of the year against Sacred Heart last Friday.

SCOUTING ODU
The Monarchs are undefeated at 2-0-1 after wins over UNLV and Loyola (Md.) and a 1-1 tie against Stetson. Old Dominion lost its top two scorers from last year but top returning scorer Niko Klosterhalfen (11 points) has two goals and an assist in the first three games. Last season, ODU went 8-5-3 overall and 3-3-2 in league play before falling to the No. 5 seed Florida International 4-2 in the Conference USA Quarterfinals.

SCOUTING VCU
The Rams are winless entering the weekend at 0-3-0. Two of the losses have come in overtime and their most recent defeat was the result of an 82nd minute winner at No. 3 North Carolina on Monday night. Four different players have scored this season for VCU, which closed last year 7-10-4 and 3-2-3 in Atlantic 10 play. Virginia Commonwealth made a run to the A-10 Championship Game in 2015 before losing to Dayton 4-1.

WHO'S NEXT
No. 23 Vermont continues a four-game road trip next week with a trip to face Bryant on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. The Catamounts then close the road swing with a matchup against Marist on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.
