ALBANY, N.Y. – The Catamounts extended their winning streak to nine games on Wednesday night with a 60-49 America East win at Albany. The victory also snapped a five-game skid over a three-year stretch against the Great Danes.

Vermont stays unbeaten in conference play at 7-0 and improves to 17-5 overall. Albany drops to 3-4 in league play and 12-10 on the year. With the victory, head coach
John Becker recorded his 127th career win at UVM and moves into sole possession of third place on the program's career wins list.
UVM's defense allowed a season-low 49 points to a Division I opponent. The green and gold held the Great Danes to 29.7% (19-for-64) from the floor and 12.5% (1-for-8) from three-point land. The Cats matched a season-high with seven blocks in the conference win.
Trae Bell-Haynes netted a game-high 18 points with five rebounds and four assists. The junior guard inches closer to the 1,000-career point plateau and only needs four more points to reach the mark.
Kurt Steidl tallied double figures with 10 points and grabbed five boards.
Darren Payen and
Dre Wills added eight points apiece.
Joe Cremo posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Great Danes. David Nichols contributed 12 points, four rebounds, and dished out three assists.
The Catamounts opened the game with a 10-6 run in the first five minutes behind three points apiece from Bell-Haynes and
Ernie Duncan. After Devonte Campbell made a layup for the Great Danes, UVM padded the lead to 14-6 with layups from Payen and Wills.
Albany came back and took a 21-20 lead with seven minutes left in the period. The Great Danes produced a 9-3 run in a four-minute span with five points coming from Mike Rowley.
In the final 3:28 of the half, Vermont's defense stymied Albany and held the Great Danes to 1-for-12 from the floor. The Catamounts mounted a 6-0 run during Albany's drought and ran into the locker room with a 31-25 lead.
Vermont's defense kept up the intensity to begin the second half. Albany shot 4-of-15 from the field through the first 12 minutes of the period as the Catamounts capitalized and padded their lead to 43-31.
In the last five minutes of the game, UVM matched Albany bucket-for-bucket to secure its seventh conference victory.
