FINAL SCORE: Vermont 105, Stony Brook 78
BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Catamounts won the first of back-to-back dual meets this weekend with a 105-78 victory over Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon at Forbush Natatorium.

Stony Brook, which was competing in its first meet as a program since 2012, dropped its first event of the season. UVM improves to 2-1 on the year after three straight conference meets.

Vermont began the meet by winning the 200 medley relay by more than 10 seconds with the team of
Jess Gorham,
Shannon Cowley,
Dani Rocheleau, and
Kira Hancock posting a time of 1:47.75.
Madeline Blumenfeld followed by coasting to win the 1000-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 10:55.53 ahead of teammate
Maddy Kovacs (11:06.66).

Kristina Posnick (1:57.41) and
Sophia Smith (1:58.69) went 1-2 in the 200 free and were separated by just over a second, while
Stefi Geiger (24.99),
Fiona Vashaw (25.28), and
Kendra Miller (26.31) finished 1-2-3 in the 50 free.

Rookie
Katie Rivers posted a commanding victory in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.91 to win by more than 13 seconds. Fellow freshman
Laura Pringle was also victorious in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.48.

Julia DeGregorio later placed second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.16, and UVM closed the meet by taking the 200 free relay in 1:41.79 with the team of Gorham,
Kelly Lennon,
Isabelle Magbie, and
Alexy Novelli.

Freshman
Haley Tomlinson had the top marks in both diving events for the Catamounts, collecting a score of 214.35 in the 1-meter and 226.64 in the 3-meter.

The Catamounts will travel to compete against UMass on Sunday (Oct. 22) at 1 p.m. at the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool in Amherst, Massachusetts. The UMass men's team will also face NJIT on Sunday afternoon. Â
