BURLINGTON, Vt. – Eighth-ranked Albany's Connor Fields had seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) and the Great Danes opened with a 5-0 run as Vermont fell by a 17-6 score on Saturday at Virtue Field.

Vermont is now 4-4 on the season and 0-1 in America East play, while Albany improves to 4-1 overall (1-0 America East).
Charlie Cobb and
Dawes Milchling each had two goals for the Catamounts in the setback.
The Great Danes, who entered Saturday's game averaging 15.5 goals per game, are owners of the fourth-best scoring offense across the Division I ranks.
Albany's Kyle McClancy quickly began the day's scoring in what ultimately amounted to an 11-2 Great Danes run. In the meantime, Cobb put UVM on the board with 8:57 left in the first quarter and added his second of the afternoon at the 4:17 mark of the period, finishing a feed from
Matt Gudas.
Following a second five-goal burst by the Great Danes, UVM found the cage just before halftime courtesy of Milchling.
Michael Clarke registered an assist on the play. Milchling then proceeded to tally another with 11:40 left in the third quarter and was trailed by
Alex Stanko's seventh goal of the season at the 5:14 mark. With his fifth goal of the season,
Jack Knight wrapped up the day's scoring late in the fourth quarter.
For Vermont,
Jon Kaplan made 13 saves in goal after entering in relief of
Nick Washuta (5 saves). At the other end, JD Colarusso amassed 16 saves in just over 52 minutes before Nate Sikierski (1 save) closed the book.
James Leary caused three turnovers for the Green and Gold, also scooping up four ground balls which was matched by
Charlie Erdmann. Albany had the edge in team ground balls, 32-22, while also going 23-for-25 on clears to UVM's 21-for-26 clip.
Vermont continues America East play next Saturday (March 25) as the Catamounts visit Binghamton for a noon tilt.
