Alex Popovich has been named the America East Rookie of the Week following his first career shutout victory on Sunday. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday.

In his first career start, the goalkeeper from Louisville, Kentucky made four saves in 90 minutes of action and earned a 2-0 shutout victory against Niagara in the final contest of the Peter Baldwin Memorial Classic finale, presented by Morgan Stanley.
Popovich is the third UVM netminder in the last three seasons to record a shutout in their Catamount debut.
Vermont closes out a three-game homestand on Saturday (Sept. 9) when Yale visits Burlington at 7 p.m. The contest is UVM's annual Rally Against Cancer game presented by Otter Creek Awnings and Vermont Custom Closets.
