WOMEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
The Vermont Catamounts (6-14-4, 3-9-3 HEA) head to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts for a pair of Hockey East games with second-ranked Boston College (20-2-3, 13-1-3 HEA) this weekend.

The Catamounts and Eagles take the ice at Conte Forum at 7 p.m. on Friday (Jan. 19) and again at 2 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 20). Both games are available on ESPN3 in the United States and TSN GO in Canada.

MINNESOTA RECAP
The Catamounts traveled to Minneapolis last weekend for a pair of games against the fifth-ranked Golden Gophers. UVM jumped out to a 4-0 lead with a pair of goals and an assist from
Alyssa Holmes on Friday (Jan. 12) and held on for the 4-2 win.
Sydney Scobee made 24 saves in the win.

Vermont's win over Minnesota was the second victory over a top-5 team this season, with a 3-2 win over defending champions Clarkson at Gutterson in November.

On Saturday, Vermont and Minnesota went into the third period tied at 1-1, but the Gophers broke through with five goals in the final 20 minutes to take a 6-1 win.

SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
The Eagles come into the weekend in first place in the Hockey East with a comfortable cushion over second-place Providence and the rest of the field.

BC dropped its first Hockey East game of the season last weekend in a 4-2 loss to the Huskies of Northeastern. Boston College came back the next day to defeat the Huskies 5-4 in overtime, and most recently defeated Harvard 6-2 last Tuesday (Jan. 18).

Led by three of the top-five scorers in the NCAA, Boston College ranks second in the country with 4.52 goals per game. Freshman Daryl Watts leads the country with 65 points through 25 games, her linemate Caitrin Lonergan is second with 59 points, and junior Makenna Newkirk is fifth in the country with 47 points.

Katie Burt has started every game between the pipes for the Eagles, and maintains a 2.18 goals against average, a .924 save percentage, and a 20-2-3 overall record with a pair of shutouts. She is 18
th in the nation in save percentage and third in winning percentage.

LAST TIME OUT
The Cats and Eagles most recently met early in the season at Gutterson Fieldhouse, and the teams entered the third period tied at 1-1. However, a third period goal from Watts and a pair from Lonergan gave BC a 4-2 win. Scobee made 33 saves for Vermont in the loss.

LAST YEAR'S HISTORY
Vermont and Boston College met in last year's Hockey East semi-finals, with the Eagles taking a 4-3 double overtime win. In the longest game in Hockey East playoff history, Vermont battled back from a 3-1 deficit and saw
Alyssa Gorecki tie the game on the power play nearly halfway through the third period.

HOLMES REIGNING ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Following Vermont's trip to Minnesota, freshman
Alyssa Holmes was named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week. In Friday's 4-2 win over the Gophers, Holmes scored the first two collegiate goals of her career, including the game winner, and added an assist. She finished the weekend at plus-3.

INSIDE THE STANDINGS
Vermont currently sits in seventh place in Hockey East with nine games remaining in the regular season. The Cats hold a point advantage on Merrimack and a three-point advantage over Connecticut, and trail sixth-place Boston University by three points with three games at hand.

Vermont continues Hockey East play at Gutterson Fieldhouse next weekend as the host against Northeastern. The Huskies currently sit in fourth place in the Hockey East standings and have received top-10 votes in the last two women's hockey polls.
