MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Morgan Ferland,
Will Lynch,
Taylor Kracher, and
Justin Liechty all won events for the Catamounts as the men's team finished second while the women's team took third at the Middlebury Winterfell Saturday afternoon.
Albany took first in both the men's and women's competitions to sweep the afternoon. Host Middlebury took third in the men's competition and fourth in the women's competition. McGill took second in the women's competition and fifth on the men's side. Williams, Plattsburgh State, and Castleton also competed in the Invitational.

Isabel Cardi (5:13.06),
Samantha Sayer (5:13.72), and
Caroline O'Shea (5:14.68) opened the competition taking third, fourth, and fifth in the one-mile run.
Aaron Lucci took third in the men's one-mile race and also took third in the 800m dash later in the day.
Dan DeBlieck had a strong day, taking second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.56 seconds and sixth in the 400m dash.
DJ Snide finished sixth (8.74s) in the 60m hurdles and
James Eyler (8.86s) took eighth.
Ferland won the weight throw with a distance of 14.72 meters (48'-3.5"). She also finished second in the shot put with a distance of 12.33 meters (40'-5.5").
Shane O'Connor took fifth in the shot put and ninth in the weight throw on the men's field events.
Lynch took first in the men's high jump with a height of 1.93 meters (6'-4").
Elias Lindsey (13.63 meters, 44'-8.75") finished second in the triple jump with
Alex Parasky taking third.
Ali Attenasio finished second in the pole vault with a height of 3.20 meters (10'-6"). She matched a personal best with the height today.
Kracher won the 600m dash after posting a time of 1:22.65. His teammate
Allen Vance finished the race in 1:23.16, taking fourth.
In the women's 800m dash,
Ava Meyer took second after finishing in 2:23.00;
Claudia Sacks took fourth in the race.
Liechty won the 200m dash (22.46s) and also took second in the 400m dash (49.75s). Junior
Ahmed Noor took third in the 400m dash (51.27s).
John Benner (2:32.48) took second and
Katie Nolan (2:58.92) took fourth in their respective 1,000m runs.
Finally,
Lauren Trumble finished third in the 600m dash after a time of 1:35.49 and
Sunny Nagpaul took second in the 3,000m race after a time of 10:17.49.
Vermont competes in both the Penn State National Open and at New Hampshire next weekend. The Penn State Open begins on Friday, Jan. 26 and runs through Saturday, Jan. 27, while the one-day meet at New Hampshire begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27.
