LAMB'S HISTORICAL NIGHT
Anthony Lamb is coming off a 34-point outing in a 79-70 win over Yale on Wednesday night. The 30-point performance set a new career high for the junior forward and it was also the most points scored by a UVM player since Taylor Coppenrath tallied 37 points against Northeastern in the 2005 America East Championship Game. Lamb's 34 points is the highest single-game point total by an America East player this season and tied for 12th-most in Division I.
MOST POINTS THROUGH FIRST FIVE GAMES
Lamb has netted 109 points through the first five games of the 2018-19 season, which is the second-most since the 2004-05 campaign, trailing only Coppenrath's 134-point total. Lamb sits one point ahead of Evan Fjeld (109) in 2010-11 and seven points ahead of Marqus Blakely (102) in 2009-10. The quartet are the only Catamounts to surpass the century mark in the opening five games during the 15-year stretch.
THREE-YEAR WIN TOTALS
Since 2016-17, UVM has accumulated the third-most wins in the nation and are currently tied with Gonzaga, Kentucky, and Wichita State at 59 victories. The trio trail Arizona (63) and defending national champion Villanova (72). Bucknell follows with the eighth-best total (54).
HIGH SCHOOL REUNION
Sunday's matinee will reunite Conant High School teammates
Ryan Davis and Jimmy Sotos. Davis averaged a double-double (25 points, 11 rebounds) as a senior and he graduated with the most career victories (90) in school history. Sotos, a sophomore at Bucknell, averaged 16.3 points and 4.4 assists during his senior year. The duo helped the Cougars to a berth in the Final Eight of the Illinois state playoffs in 2016-17.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
The Bison earned the most first-place votes (8) in this year's Patriot League Preseason Coaches' Poll, but were picked to finish second by the league's head coaches behind Lehigh. Bucknell opened the year with an 88-85 overtime win at St. Bonaventure, but has dropped its last two contests against Fairfield (L, 60-58) on Nov. 10 and Canisius (L, 82-73) on Nov. 13. Kimbal Mackenzie leads the squad with a 19.7 scoring average and has logged double digits in all three games this year, including a career-high 28 points against the Bonnies. He has been lethal from beyond the arc at 45.5% (10-for-22). Sotos has posted 14.3 points per game and leads the Patriot League with a 66.7% (6-of-9) three-point percentage. He has also dealt a team-best 13 assists.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Sunday's matinee will be the fourth ever meeting between the mid-major programs and the Bison's first visit to Patrick Gym. UVM and Bucknell first met in the 1994-95 season opener at the Pepsi-Marist Classic in Poughkeepsie, New York where the Cats edged the Bison 67-66. The two squared off again in the 2001 Mohegan Sun Classic, hosted by Central Connecticut State, as the Green and Gold cruised to a 77-60 win in the consolation game. Last year, Bucknell held off a vicious comeback by Vermont in the final minutes for an 81-77 victory.
