WORCESTER, Mass. – Sierra Sexton broke the 50-yard freestyle meet record Friday evening at the Gompei Invitational, hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Sexton won the 50 free, paddling her way to a time of 23.64 seconds. Kira Parker (24.45) also placed in the top 10, finishing seventh.
• The 200 medley relay team of Amelia Baxley, Haley Gula, Julia DeGregorio, and Kira Parker finished sixth with a time of 1:48.90.
• Sophia Smith was the top Vermont finisher in the 1650 free with a time of 10:51.91 to place fifth.
• In the 200 IM, Morgan Montgomery swam to a time of 2:13.48 for third in the B-final.
• Haley Gula (7th) and Sara Meyer (9th) finished in the top 10 of the 200 breast with respective times of 2:28.28 and 2:29.23.
• DeGregorio was the top Catamount in the 100 yard butterfly earning a second-place finish in the B-final with a time of 57.27.
• Later in the day Sexton, Parker, Tina Posnick, and Smith combined for a third-place finish in the 800 free relay with a time of 7:48.83.
• In the one-meter dive, Brenna Cetrone (2nd) was the top diver for the Catamounts with a 420.20 preliminary score. Emily Murphy (5th) registered a score of 398.25 and Ashley Branagan (10th) earned a 352.90.
