CAVERLY NAMED AMERICA EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
University of Vermont freshman guard
Rose Caverly was named America East Rookie of the Week on Monday. Caverly had 13 points, six rebounds and four assists in Vermont's road win at NJIT Sunday afternoon. The 13 points were a career-high for the rookie from Brick, N.J.
Caverly has started all eight games for the Catamounts this season and leads Vermont in playing time averaging 35.9 minutes per game. She is averaging the fifth most minutes of any player in America East. She is also averaging three assists a game, which is tied for fourth in the conference.
CRYMBLE LEADS THE WAY
Junior forward
Hanna Crymble leads the Catamounts in scoring with 17.9 PPG. She has been Vermont's leading scorer in its last five contests. This season she is also 40-for-45 from the free throw line. The rest of the team has made 36 free throws.
APPROACHING 1,000 CAREER POINTS
After scoring a game-high 26 points in Vermont's 71-63 win over NJIT Sunday
Hanna Crymble needs just 19 points to become the 22nd player in program history to reach 1,000 career points.
SCOUTING YALE
The Bulldogs come to Burlington after falling just short at St. John's Thursday night. Yale trailed by nine late and rallied to tie the Red Storm at 52, before St. John's pulled away for a 56-52 win. Yale's trip to Vermont is the middle game of a three-game road swing that will end at Army on Tuesday.
Junior guard Roxy Barahman leads the team in scoring with 20.6 PPG. She also leads the team with 3.7 APG. At 20.6 PPG Barahman is 27th in the NCAA in scoring. Barahman will be the third top-30 scorer in the NCAA the Catamounts have faced at home this season (Stella Johnson – Rider, Lauren Manis – Holy Cross).
The two teams have one common opponent this season, Wagner. The Catamounts defeated the Seahawks 56-54 in the opening game of the 2018 TD Bank Classic. On the road Yale crushed Wagner 74-41.
Last season the Bulldogs won the 2018 WBI Tournament, defeating Northeastern, Binghamton, South Alabama and Central Arkansas to become the Ivy League's first team to win a national postseason women's basketball tournament.
SERIES HISTORY
Tomorrow will be the sixth all-time meeting between the Catamounts and Bulldogs. Yale owns a 3-2 edge in the overall series. In the last meeting between the teams Yale defeated Vermont 77-48 on November 20, 2016.
