"We cannot play the game any better than we played today." head coach Jim Plumer said. "This was a great example of the kind of fast-paced hockey we are trying to play and despite not scoring, I just cannot say enough how satisfying it is to watch the team play at this pace. We were honestly better at both ends of the ice today than last night and we will be ready when the playoffs come around. Credit to Sydney Scobee for 125 minutes of shutout hockey this weekend."

Neither team found their way onto the scoresheet in a fast-paced first period that saw the shots even at eight apiece. Scobee and Annie Belanger both had eight stops.

Kristina Shanahan had UVM's best chance of the opening period with 7:40 left on the clock. She had the puck with space in the slot and ripped a shot blocker side on Belanger off the post.

Vermont had a five-minute power play seven minutes into the first after Rebecca Lindblad picked up a major penalty for hitting from behind. The Catamounts had five shots on goal during the extended power play, but could not solve Belanger and the UConn defense.

Ali O'Leary was called for slashing in the final minute of the opening period and UVM held UConn to a pair of shots on the remaining power play to open the second period.

The Huskies outshot the Catamounts 9-6 in the middle period but neither team scored in the first 40 minutes of play for the second straight game. Each team was called for a minor penalty in the period, with few chances on either power play.

The teams remained scoreless in a quick third period that saw only three whistles in the first 10 minutes of play. Connecticut held a 6-2 advantage in shots in the frame and entered the overtime period with a 23-19 overall edge.

Scobee turned away four shots and Belanger answered with three of her own to keep the game scoreless. Sophomore Ève-Audrey Picard had the best chance for either side with 50 seconds remaining, but Belanger made a fantastic glove save on the shot from the low slot.

UConn and UVM traded timeouts before a faceoff in the Catamount zone with 16 seconds remaining. UConn won the faceoff but could not get a shot on Scobee and the game ended in a 0-0 tie.

Scobee finished with 27 saves in the shutout and Belanger tallied 22 stops in her own shutout. Scobee did not allow a goal in either game against Connecticut on the weekend while stopping all 68 shots faced.

Vermont closes out the 2017-18 regular season with a trip to Matthews Arena for a game against the Northeastern Huskies. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16. The Catamounts are looking for the first season sweep over the Huskies in program history.
