CATAMOUNTS RECAP
Vermont lost both games of the recent homestand, with the second coming in nail-biting fashion. UVM fell 52-51 to UMBC at Patrick Gym on Saturday (Feb. 3). As a result, the Catamounts and the Retrievers split the regular season series 1-1, since Vermont won 72-58 in Baltimore on Jan. 6.Â
Â
Three players registered double-figures scoring wise for UMBC: Brittani Burgess (13 points), Allison McGrath (12) and Lucrezia Costa (12).
Â
For Vermont,
Hanna Crymble led the way with 18 points. The sophomore has logged double-figures in the scoring column in 19 of the 22 games that she has played in this season.
Katie Lavelle recorded a season-high nine points, as well as a career-high three blocked shots for the Catamounts. Off the bench,
Hayley Robertson scored nine points and led the team with five rebounds.
Â
As a unit, the Catamounts finished the contest at 40% from the field, 29% (5-17) from three-point territory and 91% (10-11) from the free throw line. UVM outrebounded UMBC 29-24.

SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
Head coach Maureen McGarity is in her eighth season at the helm of the program. She is a 2003 graduate of Marist College, and received her master's degree in public administration from Marist in 2005. While at Marist, McGarity spent one season as a teammate of, and one season as a coach of, UVM associate head coach,
Alisa Kresge.
 Â
McGarity's Wildcats are coming off a program-best season in 2016-17. Last year, UNH recorded a program-high 26 wins and finished with a 15-1 record in conference play. So far this season, New Hampshire is 15-8 overall, 6-4 in America East play and 8-2 at home.
Â
UNH has the second-best scoring defense in the conference (56.9 PPG) but ranks in the bottom half offensively. The Wildcats are also the worst three-point shooting team in the America East (24.7%). As a team, New Hampshire is third in the conference in free throw percentage (72%) while Vermont ranks first in that category (75%).
Â
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont leads the all-time series 41-39. UVM has lost three straight meetings and last defeated UNH on Feb. 25, 2016 inside Lundholm Gym. The Catamounts lost to the Wildcats at home on Jan. 18 by a final score of 52-49, despite UNH shooting a combined 1-10 from three-point range for the game.Â
 Â
HISTORY BEFORE OUR EYES
Candice Wright's five blocked shots against Rider on Friday, Dec. 1 placed her in sole possession for first all-time on Vermont's career blocks list. The junior broke Katie McNamara's '05 record of 102 blocked shots on her first rejection of the contest. Wright has 135 blocked shots during her career through the last game vs UMBC.
  Â
DIALING FROM LONG DISTANCE
Smith ranks fourth all-time with 176 career makes from long distance. She surpassed her former teammate, Kayla Burchill '15 (170) with four three-pointers at UMBCÂ on Jan. 6.
Â
Additionally, White sits sixth all-time in program history in three-point field goals after she surpassed Ashleigh Cuncic '07 (143) on Wednesday night (Jan. 31) against Binghamton. The redshirt-senior co-captain has now made 144 triples during her time in Burlington.Â
Â
As a team, Vermont is averaging just under seven three-point makes per game. Out of UVM's 1,179 field goal attempts through the first 22 games of the season, over 43% have come from behind the three-point arc. Individually, the most proficient three-point shooting Catamounts have been Robertson (41%), Crymble (36%) and White (32%).
 Â
