MacKay added to his 2016 USILA All-America Third Team selection with a spot on this year's Second Team, while Washuta became just the third UVM All-American in program history with Honorable Mention honors. Scott Gabrielsen was Vermont's first-ever All-American back in 1986.
MacKay made his Major League Lacrosse debut last Saturday for the Chesapeake Bayhawks, posting a goal and an assist in a road win over the Boston Cannons. He was the 13th overall pick in the 2018 MLL Draft by the Bayhawks and returned to campus on Sunday to graduate with a degree in public communication.
MacKay was also selected to play in the USILA North-South Senior All-Star Game, hosted by Providence College on Friday (May 26) at 7:30 p.m. He is only the second Catamount to earn a spot in the All-Star showcase since 2001. The Ontario native led the Catamounts in goals (39), assists (20), and points (59) as a red-shirt senior this past season and passed Craig Mygatt for the most goals in program history, finishing his illustrious career with exactly 150.
Between the pipes, Washuta became just the second Catamount in program history to lead the nation in save percentage. He finished the season with a .609 mark and was just one of two goalies in the nation above 60 percent. He also ranked fourth in the country in goals against average with a 7.72 clip.
Washuta became the first Catamount goalie to win 10 games against Division I opponents in a single season and the first goalie to record 11 wins against any opponent in a single season, finishing with 12 victories. He is already sixth all-time at UVM with 16 career wins, 14 shy of Scott Bevill's program-leading 30 wins.
The 2018 Catamounts finished the season with the most wins in program history (12). They also achieved their highest national ranking in both polls, reaching 12th in the Maverik Media Poll and 14th in the USILA Coaches Poll, both program bests.
