BURLINGTON, Vt. - The University of Vermont Athletic Hall of Fame will officially welcome eight new members this fall when the Class of 2018 is inducted. This year's inductees are Danielle Collins '08 (field hockey), Joe Fallon '08 (hockey), Milt Goggans '66 (basketball), Greg Hardy '08 (skiing), Carmen Lagala '08 (track & field), Denis Lambert (administration) and Courtney LaMere '02 (lacrosse). Former UVM men's hockey star Torrey Mitchell '07 had his Hall of Fame induction deferred from 2017 to 2018.
All eight individuals will be formally inducted at the 50th annual UVM Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner at the Davis Center on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 6 p.m. Tickets for the event are $60 and a hotel block is available at Trader Duke's Hotel (see links below).

Danielle Collins '08
Collins is UVM field hockey's all-time leading scorer with 121 career points and 48 career goals. She also holds a share of the program's top mark with 25 career assists and 74 career games played. She was a three-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Northeast Regional All-American, including a First Team selection as a junior and senior. Collins was named the America East Offensive Player of the Year as a senior and later received an invitation to play in the NFHCA Senior All-Star Game – she remains one of only six players in school history to participate in the senior showcase. Collins is the only student-athlete in UVM field hockey history to be voted as the team's Most Valuable Player four times.
Joe Fallon '08
Fallon was one of the top netminders to sport the Green and Gold. He graduated with the second-most career shutouts (20) in NCAA history behind only Michigan State and current Anaheim Ducks goalie Ryan Miller. He is the school's all-time leader in career shutouts, career goals against average (2.05), and career save percentage (.916). He sits second on Vermont's career lists with 63 victories and 132 games played – trailing only Tim Thomas '97. He also owns the top three single season goals against averages in program history. In his first year in Catamount Country, Fallon was named 2005 ECAC Rookie of the Year and set the UVM single season record with a 1.54 GAA during ECAC play. He was the chosen by the Chicago Blackhawks in the sixth round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Milt Goggans '66
Goggans is one of only two players to average a double-double during his entire Catamount career with 13.8 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. He was a three-year starter on the UVM varsity squad and totaled 843 career points and 740 career rebounds. He was only the third Vermont player to join the 500-point, 500-rebound club and remains one of only 28 members. During his first varsity season, he collected 13.9 rebounds per game, the fourth-highest single season average in program history. As a junior, Goggans ranked second on the team with a 12.1 rebounding and 12.3 scoring average. He then led the team in rebounding and was second in scoring (15.3 PPG) as a senior. In the Vermont record book, he still sits second all-time in total rebounds and rebounding average. After graduation, he went on to serve on the UVM Board of Trustees from 1998-2004.
Greg Hardy '08
Hardy was a three-time NCAA All-American for the UVM ski team as a freshman, sophomore, and junior. As a freshman, he won the slalom individual national title at the NCAA National Championships in Stowe, Vermont as the Catamounts finished second overall in the team standings. He helped the Cats win five out of six EISA carnivals in each of his first two seasons. As a sophomore, he won seven EISA races, including the giant slalom and slalom events at the EISA Championships. Hardy later received Ski Racing Magazine's College Skier of the Year award and went on to become a member of the U.S. Ski Team.
Carmen Lagala '08
Lagala was a three-time NCAA qualifier in the 800-meter for the Catamounts. She was a five-time America East champion (three-time 800m indoor champion, two-time outdoor 800m champion) and posted the third-fastest time ever at the 2006 America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Lagala inked her spot on UVM's all-time list with seven school records and still holds three of the those marks. She was a two-time America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipient and was named America East Woman of the Year as a senior. The Montpelier, Vermont native also landed on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team following her senior season.
Denis Lambert
Lambert served as the Director of Athletics at the University of Vermont for 19 years from 1973-92. After retirement, he was honored with the Vermont State Athletic Directors Association Distinguished Service Award in 1992 and the ECAC's James Lynah Distinguished Achievement Award in 1995. During his tenure, the UVM ski team won four national titles (1980, 1989, 1990, 1992) and the men's soccer program captured back-to-back America East Championships (1989, 1990). Men's hockey won the Division II ECAC Championship in 1974, moved to Division I for the 1974-75 season, and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 1988. Women's basketball won the 1992 North Atlantic Conference Championship and qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
Courtney LaMere '02
LaMere was the fifth UVM women's lacrosse player to record over 100 career points after hitting the century mark with 94 goals and 24 assists. She graduated with the third-most goals and the fourth-most points (118) in school history. She became only the second player to log over 50 points in a season with 38 goals and 12 assists during her senior campaign. LaMere guided the Catamounts to their second ever appearance in the America East Tournament as a senior, their first trip since 1996. She was lauded by the league with the program's first-ever All-Conference First Team selection. She led the Green and Gold in scoring as a junior and senior and collected the team's Most Valuable Player honors.
Torrey Mitchell '07
Mitchell, a two-time Hockey East Honorable Mention All-Star selection, totaled 105 points in 115 career games with the Catamounts. He earned ECAC All-Rookie honors in 2005 after finishing third on the team with 30 points (11 goals, 19 assists). He led the team in scoring as both a sophomore and junior. As a junior, he was voted as the team's John C. Cunningham Most Valuable Player. Mitchell is one of seven players in program history to reach 100 career points in just three seasons as a letterwinner. The Quebec native was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the fourth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and spent last season with the Montreal Canadiens and Los Angeles Kings.
