Vermont (3-1) will host the Peter Baldwin Memorial Classic presented by Morgan Stanley this weekend. The tournament field includes Central Connecticut State (0-2), Fairleigh Dickinson (2-1-1), and St. Peter's (0-3). UVM will face Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday (Sept. 7) at 7 p.m. then takes on Central Connecticut State on Sunday (Sept. 9) at 4 p.m.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Trevor Colazzo and
Mikel Kabala earned America East Player of the Week honors on Monday. Colazzo was named Offensive Player of the Week while Kabala was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week. Colazzo scored two goals last weekend, including the overtime game-winner against Northeastern. Kabala and UVM's defensive unit held its opponents to one goal on 12 shot attempts in 188 minutes of action.
CLIMBING THE RANKINGS
The Cats climbed to No. 2 in the United Soccer Coaches Northeast Regional Poll, trailing only America East rival UMass Lowell. UVM also earned 50 votes in the national rankings as the group stands four spots away from cracking the top-25.
SCOUTING THE FIELD
Central Connecticut States comes into the tournament with an 0-2 record, but both defeats were at the hands of a one-goal margin. The Blue Devils opened the season with a 2-1 loss against Seton Hall on Aug. 28 and fell to UMass Lowell 1-0 last Sunday. Coming into the season, CCSU was picked to finish fifth in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. Aidan O'Brien has tallied the team's lone goal this season – his first collegiate score. In net, Carson D'Ambrosio has made 11 saves, including eight in the season opener against Seton Hall, and owns a 1.50 goals-against average (GAA).
Fairleigh Dickinson was selected third in the NEC preseason rankings behind LIU Brooklyn and unanimous favorite St. Francis Brooklyn. The Knights were unbeaten in their first three matches (2-0-1) of 2018 but suffered a 1-0 loss against Memphis at the UAB "Soccer For a Cure" Classic on Sunday. Anu Obhakhan has been on a tear in the young season with a team-best four goals. Reigning NEC Player of the Week Daniel Lasarte scored the overtime game-winner against host UAB in the opening match of the early-season tournament last Friday. The Knights have used a pair of keepers through the first four games. Jahmaili Waite started the first three matches and posted a 0.98 GAA. Michael Mejia earned the starting nod against Memphis and recorded four saves.
St. Peter's will be looking to reach the win column for the first time this weekend. The Peacocks have dropped their first three contests to Cal Baptist (L, 3-0) on Aug. 24, St. Joseph's (L, 3-1), on Aug. 28 and UMass (L, 2-1) last Friday. Entering the year, St. Peter's was projected to finish 10
th in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Jordan Jowers has netted both of the team's goals in the early going. Goalie Robbie Anderson has logged a 2.67 GAA in 270 minutes of action between the pipes.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts will try to claim their first win against Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday night. UVM is 0-4-1 against the Knights as the series resumes for the first time since 1996. The two played to a 1-1 draw in Burlington back in 1987. The Green and Gold have fared well against Sunday's opponent - Central Connecticut State. Vermont is 13-4-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the last six meetings with the Blue Devils.
