BURLINGTON, Vt. – University of Vermont sophomore
Sierra Espeland was named to the United State Under-21 National team for the upcoming 2019 Croatia Cup.
The tournament, held from Friday (Jan. 4) through Sunday (Jan 6.) features seven international teams. The United States, United States Under-21, Croatia, Croatia Under-21, Hungary, Slovakia, and Slovenia comprise the 2019 field of teams.

Espeland joins the United States Under-21 squad, marking the third time the sophomore has represented the United States in international play. Espeland played in the 2017 Pan-American Games in October 2017, helping the Americans win gold and qualify for the Indoor Hockey World Championships in February 2018, where the US finished 10th.
The Stafford, Virginia native played every minute in goal for the Catamounts in 2018, helping the Cats to an 8-10 regular season record (4-4 AE) and a berth in the 2018 America East Championships, held in Palo Alto, California.
The Under-21 team will play two matches per day, with playoffs following the final round robin games on Sunday. The full United States U21 schedule is below; all times are Eastern.
